I am a chemist and I won't try that in my bike or dodge. It is extremely flamable, I wouldn't even want the stuff in my garrage.

You first exactly, BTW i can supply the stuff but I don't think you can even ship the stuff

Yea, sounds like you'd be a fireball going down the street at 60 mph if something went wrong

@ 1-3oz. per 10 gal. of gas I don't see how adding such a small amount of acetone is going to turn your auto into a ticking timebomb. I would be more worried about the long term effects on catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, and injectors. I think if it were that easy, oil companies would sell the stuff as a fuel additive advertised to increase mileage.

Why would the oil companies want you to get better mileage?

I said I will try it. I will do it next week when I get back from Mammoth and I will let you guys know if it works.

Autoignition Temperature: 33°F (0.56°C)

Yeah, It can spontaneously start itself on fire if you bring it above 33°F
I don't know where you got that from, but it's wrong. Here is the info from the MSDS from 2 different sources.

Flash Point: -4e deg F ( -20.00 deg C)
Autoignition Temperature: 869 deg F ( 465.00 deg C)
Explosion Limits, Lower:2.5%
Upper: 12.8%
NFPA Rating: (estimated) Health: 1; Flammability: 3; Instability: 0

https://fscimage.fishersci.com/msds/95383.htm

and

Flash point: -20C (-4F) CC
Autoignition temperature: 465C (869F)
Flammable limits in air % by volume: lel: 2.5; uel: 12.8
Extremely Flammable Liquid and Vapor! Vapor may cause flash fire.

http://www.bu.edu/es/labsafety/ESMSDSs/MSAcetone.html

So it can set itself on fire above 465*C.

chemical physicist here - the acetone/gas thing is a load of crap.

You'll have to trust me on this as I don't really feel like writing out all the reasons why but suffice to say when this argument first came out it was defunct (years ago).

Just because you bought a race replica bike doesn't mean you don't like saving money.
