...like the title says I installed a fairing set and now the bike won't start, it turns over, but won't start. I was able to start it up last night after I completed the installation, but it struggled to start and then died immediately after starting. I checked the battery and it was low so I charged it up and tried again and still the same outcome; I'm pretty sure it's not the battery because the first couple attempts at starting the bike it sounded pretty strong, like it made a valiant attempt.

I had to wrestle with the bike a couple times which led to the gas being swirled around in the tank violently, could this be an issue? I have no idea how a simple installation of fairings could go so wrong.

Have you tried to dry out the cylinders?

Hold the throttle wide open and push the start button. your bike will never start under this condition, it's a program the ECU holds to dry cylinders out. No fuel is being delivered under this condition. It is pumping air through the cylinder and drying out what i suspect are wet plugs.

Hold the starter button down under this condition for about 10 seconds, 3 times allowing about 30 seconds pass between starter operation.

after the third try, switch off the bike, turn it back on, and attempt to start normally. if it does not, try it again. if it still will not start come back and post that drying the cylinders failed.

you may need to charge the battery before and after attempting this. i suggest using a set of jumper cables and a car battery.

if it were a car i would say alternator. do bikes have alternators??? if so, check it out.

so as it turns out it was flooded cylinders; I still haven't gotten the bike to run yet, but it started for a sec and died. I have been trying to use the method outlined in the manual to dry out the cylinders, but it still isn't working. If I leave the bike standing for a day or so will this help to dry out the cylinders?

one or two cylinders anyway, the other 2 are sealed by the valves because the engine is either on a compression or power stroke.

Sounds like the tip sensor either got moved or disconnected. I don't remember exactly where the stock location is for it, since I moved mine when I track prepped the bike. I am pretty sure it mounts on the back of the headlight assembly, it has a 3 pin connector.

if it was the Bank Angle Sensor, the fuel pump wouldn't prime...
