Cruising home today and my clutch level went slack, wire slipped out of the lever brace and I had to put it back in with my right hand just before i reach a stop light phew!! Looks like the upper threads on the screw adjustment are a bit stripped so to keep the clutch tight it was just sitting in there a few turns to secure it and the clutch is too lose.. Anyone have a quick fix for this without replacing the lever brace- is there an adjustment on the engine? Plenty of crossover here I've seen this problem with bicycles..

There is a second adjuster by the engine case right before the actuator arm on the motor. Losses the nuts on the adjuster and take up some slack there, like you said similar to a bicycle cable. But you should replace the lever perch if it's stripped, it's a much "finer" adjustment point.

Now if you can't find that adjuster, lazy or not, you shouldn't be allowed to ride a motorcycle. :)
