As seen in the short video, the battery voltage dives well below 10v accompanied by a loud rapid clicking when I hit the start button.

Anyone know what this clicking component is?

Sometimes the bike will start happily 10 times in a row, other times it will behave as in the video on its second start. Push starting does work which I've now done several times. Bike always parked with battery tender plugged in and on a battery less than 6 months old.

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Did you ever find out what it was? Im having the same problem but mine is just 1 click and its coming from the same spot. There are times it starts up perfectly and others where it just does the click sound

You normally hear the relay clicking when the battery power is not enough to crank the engine....

Since you state your battery is new and you maintain it correctly.. .Maybe the battery is faulty...

Do you have this problem right after you disconected the battery tender?

1. Check battery connections are good and battery is grounded.
2. Load test battery 10V is low could be a faulty battery.
3. Check your starter relay fuses (makes the clicking noise).
4. Bypass starter relay to the starter motor and see if it starts. If not it's probably starter motor brushes. That's my problem with my bike right now.
