hey when i let the clutch out when im downshifting i hear a clunk coming from the bike
i dont know exactly where the noise is coming from
but it sounds like the motor
it doesnt do it when i shift up
and i really can only hear it in the first 3 gears cuz thats the only time im goin slow enough to hear it
and when i take slow corners and lean the bike over it does the same clunking only a lil bit quieter
and i dont have to be shifting to hear it on the corners
i know i have enough oil in the bike
and the oil isnt old it has like 2000 miles since the last change
it also makes the noise if i am in first gear and i just blip the throttle

i really dont know where the sound is coming from
when i turn corners and lean it over and accelerate
it really sounds like it is coming from the chain
but the clunking sound when i downshift kinda sounds like either the tranny or chain
cuz its in the lower back half of the bike
its not engine knock i know that cuz it only does one single clunk every time i let the clutch out
and it doesnt matter if im down shifting to 2nd at 60 or at 10mph
and even if i let the clutch out really easy it still does it

Tighten your chain if it's loose and match the engine revs to your speed when downshifting and the noise should go away.

idk about the chain bein loose it prolly is
idk if this has anything to do with it but it takes a second to engage the clutch
i let it out and it doesnt actually engage for like a second
ive been practicing clutch wheelies and it doesnt matter how high i rev it up
it just kinda jumps but wont lift the front tire even in 1st gear
and if i try to power it up i bounce it in first gear and at full throttle it will only lift the front tire like maybe 3 inches at most
it seems like the bike just doesnt have the power
or like its slipping and just wont get it up

If the clutch were slipping, you'd know it, believe me. i doubt it's the cush drive... those are solid rubber pucks. if they were gone, the hub would eat the wheel and you wouldn't go anywhere. it'd be a neat light show though... if you like shrapnel that is... but if it takes a whole second for the transmission to engage, you've got some pretty serious clutch spring or clutch cable issues going on.

well i dropped it off at the stealership this morning
and i just got off the phone with them
and they said they rode it for like an hour
and its making no clunking noise
except a slight tick/rattle at idle
and they think its a out-of-round clutch plate
but they said if they take it apart and put time into it and there nothing wrong then i have to pay for it
but if there is something wrong then they will cover the costs

If they rode it and there was no sound, then take it back and ride it around and blip your throttle when downshifting and tighten the chain. Since it's only the lower gears, it's common for there to be a loud clunking noise when downshifting if you don't match the revs.

They don't "go" (they aren't going to disappear out of there), they lose a couple mm's and that leaves enough slack in the driveline to cause a bang. Cush drives do wear, and it doesn't take a huge amount of wear to be able to feel it, unless you shift like a ham fisted goof.
I've had to shim or replace them on enough of the bikes that I've seen.

well i got the bike back late last night and they said they documented it but didnt find any problems
not even the chain bein loose
but as soon as i pulled out onto the highway it instantly made the kinda binding clunking noise in the chain
it pissed me off sooo bad
so now im goin to oil and tighten the chain myself
where do i adjust to tighten it?

Firstly, check the chain slack before you do anything. if it's 25-35MM, you're good and the chain doesn't need tightening.

As this is a 04 bike with 20,000m on it & he is practising wheelies (clutching) there is a fair chance of both Cush drive & clutch wear.

I think your dealer is correct.

yes this is my first bike
ive owned it from 16,000 miles
and now its 21,500
the only mods/adjustments ive done is adjust the foot brake to a comfortable position and add the 5000k xenons
and i adjusted the throttle slack out of it and the clutch slack
now the chain slack is that measured from the center most part between the sprocket?
i measured it from there and it has 3" of play from top to bottom
i just dont know if there is a slack adjuster or do i adjust by moving the wheel?
oh and i doubt there is any harm ive caused the bike cuz ive only been practicing wheelies for like a week now

Maybe you should learn how to shift

You're not shifting right at all. 100% positive that is your problem. That would explain why the shop didn't have a grinding noise, yet you're the only one that does. Read up on how to shift.

the bike never made this noise before it just started within the past week
i didnt change how i shift in the past week
like i stated before no-matter what speed or rpm im goin or no matter how much i feather the clutch it still makes the noise anyways
but it doesnt do it constantly
it only does it when the bike it hot
like over 200
and the noise coming from the chain is most definitly because its loose
im at work right now and i had a few other bikers here look at the chain
and they said they were suprised it hasnt skipped a link yet
the chain top and bottom has enough play to hit the swingarm
but i dont know how to adjust it

when i was pulling out to the highway coming from the dealership i wasnt shifting
i was just in first gear at like 10mph accelerating
it kinda sounds like a binding sound in the chain
and its only when i lean the bike over to turn at slow speeds
the clunking noise is only on downshifts not upshifts
and it doesnt matter if i match the revs the the speed or not it just does it occasionally and only when its up to operating temp
