M4 Exhausts opinions?

1918 Views 11 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  sounds2l
Anyone have any experience with M4 exhausts? Has anyone out there seen one in person or heard one? My friend who is the parts manager at my dealership is pushing me to get one. One of the techs at the dealership has one on his 600F4I racebike and swears by them. My buddy called me in to meet the M4 factory rep and he told he'd give me a break off of wholesale price since no one around here has bought one for a 600RR yet. Depending on the price I'll probably jump on the deal, but I haven't seen one in person on a 600RR and don't know if I'll be throwing my money away. Anyone have any insight?

i saw one guy with m4 on the rr and i was pretty impressed... sounded good, not too loud, and the tone seemed to carry as he revved it up.. the only thing is that it stuck out a little past the end of the bike (like the erion sorta), i couldnt find any info on them, and while i was interested in them the m4 website was done so i looked elsewhere... ill have to check back and see what they run for, for the right price i'd definitely buy one

I had one on my F4i. I really LOVED it. Sounded and looked PERFECT. If I can afford one at the time I buy my pipe, it will be the M4..otherwise a Yosh.

Recommend the M4 with the experienced I had with the F4i, but havent heard anything on the RR.
I had one on my last bike and they are fantastic. Great sound and great finish. I had the carbon fiber high mount.
Thanks for the info, I'm going to go with the M4. Ya'll convinced me. I'll post up some pics when I comes in later this week. I ordered the carbon version.

JAY4SPEED,
Cool. Let me know what you think. I am in the market for a pipe, but dont want to spend the high $300's the M4 cost so I am probably going Yosh. Where did you get it and how much??

I got it from my friend at the Honda Dealer. I paid $360.00 for it but I know he cut me a deal on it. The carbon slip on at their website lists for $474.00. I'm not sure if you can get better than that or what out of the retailers.

For those that are interested, I installed the M4 Carbon slip on over the weekend. Install wen't smoothly. I removed the right side foot peg and it made it so much easier. The pipe exits right in the middle of the tail {not cocked off to one side}. The can, however goes under the tail at an angle to the right like most of the aftermarket pipes.

I found the tone to be way deep and loud at idle. At around 3 to 4 k it goes from a deep sound to more of a quieter, rich sound. At 7k it gets even quieter. Above 9k it gets loud again and screams. Sorry my digital cam doesn't have sound so I can't provide a sound clip. Seems build quality is very nice especially the stainless mid pipe, welds are first class. I can't really compare it to another pipe on a RR because I haven't heard any others than my stock one {Seems I'm the only one around with a 600 RR}. I can say that at idle its louder and deeper than my buddies R6 with a micron slip on.

I was able to go up and down the subdivision a bit and noticed a lot more midrange power at around 5 to 8k rolling on from half throttle. I wasn't able to get the RPM's up out on the interstate before some bad weather rolled in, so I had to cut the test ride short. So far so good, I'm happy with it.

If anyone is interested in pics let me know, I can try to take some tonight if the camera cooperates.

I know, I know, I need to get rid of the mudflap. I'm working on fabricating my own plate relocator and I need to send it out to powdercoat so the mudflap has to stay for now. Sorry for the blurry pics. I'll take more once I get the mudflap out the way probably next week or so.

Looks great. Hey, at least take off those wings that are covering up the pipe. That would make it look SOOOO much better being able to see more of the pipe and the emblem.
The M4 is nice but that tip sticks way out there.
Good choice!! this is my second M4 pipe, first was on my 01 F4i. when i got my RR i had to get the CF slip on. Ive had mine since about august and you will find that the pipe will change in sound a little and will become a bit louder. You got the deal of the century on the pipe i paid $409 and thought that was good. anyway nice pipe, and good choice in my opinion.
