yup, i used to roll by body around the seat to try and hang my knee out there... but as you learn you figure out that by trying to push your knee forward rather than out its easier to drag a knee. When you first do it, you want to do it ALL the time... but then you learn that you just need to feel the road vs grinding your pucks away.

Sounds like a solid bit of advice would be to lead with your shoulder, correct?
Lean with the shoulder, yes, but you ultimately want to lead with your eyes. Find the exit and your body will steer where you're looking. the knee is just a guide. you're trying to pivot the bike around your body.

LOL yea i cheered for him as well! so basically along with getting your butt off the seat a little, you want to get your upper body off the bike as well and lead with your shoulder and maybe chin to handlebar? man can't wait to do my first track day!

well don't forget darkcbr, that sometimes people are doing it wrong, and could go down because of the way they're trying to get a knee down. i remember when someone was countersteering in the twisties... take a left hander, putting body to the right side, pushing bike over to the left side.

Well said Io-Bot. Point your toes so your standing on the ball of your foot is the way I think of it. There's a great picture of Nicky showing him doing this. His knee is almost touching his elbow. I'll see if I can find it.
