I bought my '06 last week and promptly dropped it in a low speed slide a few days after that without frame sliders. My left engine cover got scratched, left mid fairing got serious rash and broke, fronat fairing also broke. Having put down some serious cash for the bike and the tune-up/tire change/fork seal replacement, my wallet is starting to hurt.

What is better: buying cheap slightly damaged plastic or waiting patiently and then dishing out for mint plastics? Being a noob I'm not sure: what is the norm?

Hi,
1. Buy frame sliders as there are lots of good types out there. use the search button for this.
2. For the engine cover - take a look at the thread which someone repairs it
3. If your fairings are still ok for road riding I'd wait patiently - they do turn up...

Thanks for the pointers. I saw the cover for $45. It might be worth buying it new and replacing it because I don't have tools.
