wow Motegi was crazy, looked like Jorge was going to run away with it..... then the track started to dry out. Both Jorge and Vales tires (fronts esp) were giving out big time!! I honestly was waiting for one of them to crash out. Little Dani managed his tires better and of course being prob the lightest rider weight wise was to his advantage! 50th Win for DP26! Vale managed to get around Jorge to take second. Marc broken hand and all finished an impressive 4th. These points are huge for Vale, with 3 races to go lets just say Jorge wins all 3, Vale just needs to finish second and he will still take the title, I really think this ones coming down to Valencia!!!
Also to note: Alex De Angelis is now on the slow road to recovery, he is awake now , super happy to hear this latest news. Get well soon Alex

About the circuit

Phillip Island, the self-styled home of Australian motorsport, is steeped in motor racing tradition, with the first car races having been held there on public roads in the 1920s. The first motorcycle races took place in 1931 and a permanent track was built in 1956. The circuit fell into disrepair during the late 70s and early 80s until it was bought in 1985 and given a AUS $5m facelift. MotoGP returned in 1989 and 1990 before becoming a regular fixture once more from 1997 onwards.
The Phillip Island circuit is blessed with breathtaking scenery and beautiful ocean views and, as one of the fastest, most fluid, tracks on the calendar, it continues to provide some of the most spectacular racing in the MotoGP season.

Anthony West is returning to MotoGP as a replacement for the injured Karel Abraham, with fellow Australian Damian Cudlin replacing Alex de Angelis.

Really too bad for Tito :( he hopes to race in Valencia for the final time on his Moto2 bike
Tito Rabat will head back to Spain and miss the Malaysian Grand Prix to fully recover from his injury.
Tito Rabat will tomorrow head home to Spain, where he will undergo further examination and possible surgery on the left arm injured two weeks ago in a training crash at Almeria.

The former Moto2™ World Champion crashed heavily in the fast final turn at Phillip Island yesterday, during the second free practice session ahead of the Australian Grand Prix. Precautionary x-rays showed no additional damage to the left arm injury, but the possibility of a displaced bone fragment was identified during a further examination today.

Rabat will return to Barcelona for a more detailed assessment of the injury and will miss the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang, staying in Europe to recuperate fully ahead of the final race of the season in Valencia instead.

Tito Rabat: “The crash yesterday left me with no other option; I need to return home for further treatment as soon as possible, so that I have the maximum amount of time to recover ahead of the final race of the season in Valencia. I would like to say thank you to the medical staff at the circuit here at Phillip Island and also to the MotoGP medical team for the good job that they’ve done, both with my rehabilitation from the original injury and for quickly identifying the possibility of further damage after my crash yesterday. Now my focus is solely on recovery, ready for the race in Valencia and the new adventure in MotoGP that starts the Tuesday after.”

Michael Bartholemy: Team Principal: “The original injury wasn’t the problem for Tito here in Australia or in Japan, but rather it was a lack of strength in his left arm following the surgery. With the physiotherapy that Tito has been doing since the operation the strength was starting to return, so it made sense for him to come to the overseas races and test the injury on the bike. The crash yesterday has changed that, as there is a possibility that it dislodged a bone fragment in his damaged arm that may require further treatment. It’s disappointing for Tito, but the positive thing is that he will be sufficiently recovered to race in Valencia and then test the MotoGP bike on the Tuesday after the final race of the season.”

The bird tore a chunk out of the right front fairing, looks like it didn't actually hit Iannone.

I'm glad I stayed up to watch the race, all I can say is wow.

WOW!!!!! by far best race of the year, crazy crazy last lap by Marc for the win!! Andrea I pushes Vale off the podium, at least Marc took the win so 11 pt gap now between them with 2 to go!!

Marc Marquez wins the Australian MotoGP after an epic last lap by the Honda rider saw him charge from third to first, passing Jorge Lorenzo at MG Corner.

At the same time, World championship leader Valentino Rossi lost third to Andrea Iannone with the top four covered by one-second at the line!

Rossi's MotoGP title lead now stands at 11 points over team-mate Lorenzo, with two rounds remaining.

Anthony West and fellow Australian Damian Cudlin were returning to MotoGP as replacements for the injured Karel Abraham and Alex de Angelis...
