Anyone here into muscle??? :ponder: Muscle Cars that is!!! Can be what you had, what you have or what you would like to or plan on having in the future

I have finally decided it's time and have been looking for something that I have always wanted, ever since I was in my early teen years... a Pontiac Trans Am :eek:hyeah: some of these, especially the older ones can run a pretty penny so with budget in mind I'm hopeful to find something that is in decent shape and that will keep me happy, and of course look good next to the 600rr in the garage!!! :grin2:

So far I have only seen one in person, a 74 TA, they for sure made it sound much better then what it really was, and it didn't even start (reason they gave, "no gas") bunch of bull sh!t  how you gonna try selling a car and not have any gas in it :tard: asking price was 9K, here is a couple of pics

for sure a project car, and could cost way too much.... needs work on the outside and inside, a lot of it :surprise: moving on...

Having a friend check out a 79 TA for me this weekend. It's a W72 Trans Am that came from the factory with a Pontiac 400 Big Block, 4 speed manual, T-Tops, and air conditioning. Here are a couple of pics.

Now we patiently, (or not patiently) wait and see what happens this weekend and what my friend comes back with to report

Eye Candy!!!!
It's a pitty you can do this only in the US and prob. on Arab countries due to petrol prices! jajajaja

I would love to try one... The closest I've been was back in Argentina were there are a lot of Chevys S2 or Ford Falcon's, but there aren't as many engine blocks as in the USA.

olds 403 had main web cracking issues, not a great performance motor. $9k for a 2nd gen F body is absurd. They were like $1500 a couple years ago. Good luck on your search!

This one is the Pontiac 400, haven't read any really bad things about them. I am not sure what they were but anything out there right now is pretty pricy. for sure classic and collector based hobby.... and thanks.

I was a huge car nut up until a few years ago. Still have it in me a bit, but motorcycles have captured my heart - and I don't see me going back anytime soon.

With this being said, I haven't really been into muscle cars - however the new Camaro Z/28 did attract my attention a little bit.

So the 74 in my earlier post, I'm considering seeing it again but this time with someone with big knowledge about restoration projects. So far VIN checks out and dude was honest about engine swap.
I'll know more how much to fix, but if I could get it at good piece (NOT 9K :tard:) then a possibility as in the long run I could fix it up right to my standards and make it a good investment for down the road since it seems these keep going up in value.

Then with this one, the dude turned out to be a complete flake :bitch: I guess one way not to sale your car is not show it and just waste other peoples time. Bottom line my friend tried two days to see it.....didn't happen for the owner is a douchebag.....so moving on, sucks for I did like the look and description if of course it was correct.

Also found a brand new listing Friday for this one, wanted to see it Saturday, it was unfortunately sold within hours...sounded like a great deal and assume why it took no time for it to be gone. Don't people have anything else better to do then be on line checking for good deals on cars  fvck it, I'm playing the lottery

well, another day another search and today i did see a 79 TA, with the 403 cu in (6.6 L) Olds V8.

olds 403 had main web cracking issues, not a great performance motor.
i have done some research and spoke to an expert and he also mentioned this, he did say there is a work around to fixing the problem, and for street use that this should be a non issue anyways...

in any case, started it up, no smoke, engine ran nice, with steady idle.... asked the seller if i can take to my mechanic, he said "no problem" so that is a good sign... all is OG on the vehicle, paint, inside...only things that he did were put new tires on, hoses, exhaust and cat... all else is as it came from the factory, which is rare with these.... in any case, here are a couple of pics and hopefully this saturday i get to take her out for a bit, get it inspected and maybe make a deal on it

Not sure about couple years ago, but it would be pretty crazy that the prices went up that much. And if they have then I see nothing wrong with it as it looks like a good investment. Here is what the values show for a 79 TA...

Of course the older the model the more money these go for and special editions too!

So did you get it? Looks nice!

I never had a muscle car exactly, but I have my 78 C10. Shortbed, stepside. Lowered 5" front and back [I like rake]. Custom tweed interior with tweed and leather buckets w/4 point harnesses. Full autometer phantom line gauges. Big ass mopar 6 pack hood scoop rivited to the hood after I cut the hole for the scoop out.

Engine wise its a 388cid small block. Scat crank, stock 5.7" rods w/ARP, 11:1 flat top forged and coated pistons, file fit moly rings. Hamburger oil pan with scrapper and windage tray. Custom ground Lunati small base circle solid flat tappet cam thats 243/[email protected] and .501/.511" lift with the comp cams 1.5" roller rockers. Vortec heads, performer RPM intake manifold, Hei with MSD 6a and blaster 2 coil, Holley 750DP with main body upgrade. Also have a victor intake I will try one day.

Transmission is a Muncie M20 wide ratio 4sp pulled from a '64 corvette. I've blown it up twice already. Hurst shifter of course. Exhaust is undersized at 1 5/8" into 3" collector headers and dual 2.5" with flowmaster 40 series mufflers, I'd like some bigger primary tubes on the headers or a step tube design.
12 bolt 3.73 rear, needs a detroit locker!

This was the first vehicle I ever bought, back in high school with my first job. Blown the engine up, the trans twice, the driveshaft once, doesn't matter. I'll never let it go.

taking it this Saturday to my mechanic to have it inspected and run the smog test, from DMV files it has failed in April so I will see what my mechanic says this thing is worth.

as to your C10, that's awesome... best friend of mine restored a 74, pretty much from the ground up, inside and out, looks freaken amazing and holly **** does it have some power when he steps on it, maybe i'll snag a pic of it one day (if he lets me )

well.... it was some kind of a morning. on the way to my mechanic the fvcken TA ran out of gas :)retard: seller forgot to say that at 1/4 on the gage, that that is pretty much empty)... so had to use my AAA to get some gas, then off to gas station to put in some more so i can still get it to my mechanic to have it inspected/looked at... he raised it up, and there was a lot of leaks up front.... including one in the back that was a little on the dangerous side, the sellers mechanic (or so called that for some reason) put the wrong hose/clamp on the gas line so we were dripping fuel all over the place.... very safe!!! :tard:

so over all my mechanic said for the car to run good and be safe it would cost around $1.7K-2.5K for stuff like water pump/seal job, oil pan gasket, timing chain, smog work and ac work... and pretty much said that probably for around 10K i could get the TA in pretty good/nice looking shape (he is a full service guru, does it all - in fact there was a dude picking up a VET that was sitting in his garage for over 20 years, my mechanic had it for about 2 years working on it and restoring the crap out of it, and today was first day this older dude got to drive his beast).... back on topic, he said that maybe around 10K-15K to make this TA in good/restored shape. went back to the seller, showed him the recommended work invoice and he started becoming a jack ass, saying "what this much for that, really" guess his mechanics are cheaper but then again, if they can't even properly secure a fuel line, then obviously you get what you pay for - any my mechanic gave me the top end prices, just that there is no surprise, other then maybe, here is your bill, it's less by this much $$. always better to give top estimate and work to lower the price, not the other way around.

in any case the seller pretty much said, well i wouldn't fix anything on it, would just drive it like this - and i'm like, ummm, yeah.... not if i want to park in my garage and want a safe car that doesn't catch fire and something that doesn't completely destroy my garage with leaks everywhere (had a small leak on my jeep before and had to put down foil on the ground) not wanting to do that again.

my mechanic said $6K is what i should offer (he is asking $7,8K)... i'll wait a couple days and let it sink in and we shall see, maybe the seller will reach out to me, be a little better that way as well.
