For those interested, this is from the beginning of my history with the bike, I figured no need to start all over again and bore you lol.

I was going to wait until the body work was actually painted to post, but figured why not just take everyone along for the ride. Who knows maybe some extra pictures can help some other members on here, I know pictures sure helped me a lot when doing research.
Since I made that post I have my new Arrow headers installed (see pics for comparison of old Yoshi header and new Arrow), got my Woodcraft clip ons all adjusted along with Motion Pro Rev3 throttle kit and replacement clutch cable. I made my own "key eliminator switch" for now with an old kill switch I had lying around (still have an uncut one for converting back if necessary). I would like to get a nice custom switch at some point.

I also used some more zip ties than in the pictures for final mounting to make sure nothing comes unplugged ;).

Yoshi sits WAY lower and interferes with most race bodywork:mad:

Arrow is nice and tucked up, no clearance issues :D

I have fitted the Armour Bodies race bodywork (07-08 lower is better than 09-12 ;)) and I think I have decided on a 2 color combo to offset the 2 wheels. I still have to decide where I will split the colors exactly but I like the "custom" white I had originally for contrast on the front wheel, and I found a close match to the front wheel color that I can use to contrast the back wheel.

The tape is a VERY rough idea of where I'd like to split the 2 colors to contrast the 2 wheels.
Headlight decals are just taped in place for now for some visuals.

Nice work Bus_1!

Can you get the oil filter off between the headers now? Did you have to remove the fairings on the Yoshi to change the oil filter? That's one thing I love about my '04. I learned early on I could get the oil filter out through the bottom between the header pipes.

Thanks guys!

@NewRedRider with my OEM plastics and and Yoshi headers I always took the right side fairings off and took the one 10mm bolt holding my coolant reservoir out. Then I was able to simply move the reservoir off to the side a little and out of the way (no need to drain anything) and was able to get at the filter from the side. I would also lay some tin foil over the headers and make it like a funnel of sorts to drip/drain the oil filter into the drain pan. Nice and clean every time!! The Arrow headers might be a bit tighter but should still work the same and I should only have to remove the the lower bellypan. I guess I'll find out soon enough lol

Not much of an update but its something lol.

My uncle finally had some free space in his shop to start prepping the fairings for paint. I did some wet sanding today and we tested out some lines on where the 2 colors will meet. Looking at the first picture, the left side of taped line will be a burnt orange (shown in last picture, this was our test card he sprayed today) this would also include the tank cover. The right side of the line (including lower bellypan and front fender) will be basically the same color white we painted my OEM fairings, maybe some tweeks to the pearl coat for some extra pop. The tail fairing will have a mix of the the colors as well. We are still deciding if we should do a pin stripe to separate the colors or not. The lines will be cleaned up of course but this was the final design choice.

I'm just excited to finally get this paint job going!! Can't wait till its all done and i can start putting some decals on too.

cool! I've liked burnt orange ever since seeing last McLaren F1 at Willow Springs.

What kind of paint are you shooting? I've been trying to find original Imron 500S, but appears no longer available. Modern crummy low-VOC stuff just doesn't flow as smoothly.

Yes to pin striping between the colors. I like the burnt orange but what's the 2nd color?

Yes that orange is just so nice looking!!

I'm not sure on exact brand of paint (BASF or something? it's printed on the sheet in second picture), I'll have to check next time I'm there, but its all mix to paint. The burnt orange color I chose was just from a bunch of sample chips he had, then punch that specific code into what ever program he has and it spits out how much of what tint to add.

This is the code on the back of the orange paint chip.

The second color (white) we did not do a test spray card. This picture is an example of what the program spits out though.

This is actually my sheet from when I painted the OEM fairings a few years ago, the base white will be the same. The pearl is just flake in some clear coat over the white base coat...then just clear over that for final coat. The only difference this time will be how much flake we put in for the pearl coat (I want more lol).

For reference this is probably the best pic I have of the OEM fairings that shows the pearl coat. I didnt want to go with that traditional blue flake on white, I chose to use some orange flake from house of colors that looks like a copper/orange. Still does no justice compared to in person but you get the idea.

Little teaser update, the tank cover is finished. He had to spray some clear for a job he was working and it was the only solid orange piece so he sprayed them together.
