My 2007 RR Opinion......RANT...LONG.......

Well after all this wait, and discussionion the past sevral months I also was getting all pumped up over this NEW SUPPOSED RR.

Even debating selling my highly prized and moded (alot of my free time) 2003 RR to get this all NEW RR.

I truly am pretty let down, to me its the same as the changes between the 03 04 to the 05 06.

Big deal.......I mean at least the 05 05 has USD Forks, and some slight body changes, a few more H.P. , but big deal, this to me seems that this is all the 2007 has on even the 05 and 06's.

Me personaly will stick with my 03 thats pretty damn sweet looking to me, and have been told by others also, and wish for HONDA to possibly do a FULL re-design maybe next year that is more apealing to me.

I pesonally think the sweetest bikes on the market as far as LOOKS he Triumph 675, in our price range.

I nevever rode one but boy they do look sweet....just my opinion.

Sorry for the RANT, but man all this anticipation over the new RR kinda let me down.

ill admit.... the triumph is the same price as the 06 RR. Honda needs to get off it's high horse BS attitude and lower the price a bit if it wants to compete in 07. But then again, that is JUST my opinion, so dont flame.
How bout the new RR shaved 20lbs off it's predecessor?!
How bouught it's new electronic steering damper?!
The dyno's haven't even hit the pages yet. I think people are jumping to conclusions far too early on this one.
I just wanna figure out how to get the HESD to work on my 05

you also forgot to put the following;

all new more compact & lightweight 599cc engine

4-1 exhaust system with exhaust valve (similar to EXUP)

improved midrange & top end power

new bodywork enhances handling & performance (in laymans terms it's more aerodynamically efficient less airdrag)

new transmission gear ratios (close ratio)

looks are only skin deep, it's what's under that counts.

Honestly, I think everyone who's complaining about the looks of the bike should go take their skirts off and put on some pants. Should we put some decals of flowers and butterflies and sell it in pink for you? Geez. What? Do you go into showrooms and pick out a vehicle based on color or looks? I love this comment:

I nevever rode one but boy they do look sweet.

That's the funniest thing I ever heard. All the ranting I hear, it almost sounds like Honda needed to create a 600RRR. We're not going from an F4i to an RR again. There's no need to go through a radical re-design when the original wasn't all that bad. I mean Yamaha HAD to step it up big time to redefine the class.

Honda just had to make a couple of small steps and I can guarantee that Honda will have a winner on its hands in not just performance, but even in style and looks. Why? Because it's ALL FUNCTIONALLY beautiful. There, now, go stick a rose on that and call it purty.

That's just my opinion...:icon_salu
Here's want I'm complaining about... After all this redesign, it looks like we still gotta cut the fairing to install sliders. There, we should complain about that!

WHAT?!? From the looks of it, I would have thought that the redesign was tailored around sliders. Honda totally f'ed up if they built yet another bike that has totally redesigned plastic and we still have to cut it. There isn't even that much solid plast on it now, so it will probably look rediculous to put a 2" hole in it.
Yeah, I think actually, the engine mount bolt where a slider would traditionally be is on the upper part of the lower fairing, which doesn't appear to have a lot of plastic for a 2" hole. Dare I say no cut frame slider?

Funny, I would've thought that a redesign would be tailored to making the bike more aerodynamic, lighter, etc.. sliders are still technically "optional".. albeit a good idea, but still optional

Now a stock bike that *comes* with sliders.. that would be a step :)
No one wants to ride something that looks like [email protected]#t no matter how well performs! Honda dropped the ball big time on this one and they will see when the sales drop. Reading the opinions on this board and I don't think I'm the only one that feels this way!
I like the new 07 RR, dont get me wrong. But Im not about to go to the showroom and switch my current RR out for one. Just not enough stuff I would of hoped to be on it. If I wanted to change my bike out right now it would be the Triumph 675 no contest. It looks beautiful!! If the 07 RR came with projectors and a slipper clutch I would of considered it.

I'm pretty sure the only ones complaining about the bike on this forum are the guys who don't do trackdays. Just the guys who upgrade thier bikes for looks and wheelie/stunna/I'm faster than you functionality.

Face it the new bike was designed to be a RACE REPLICA (RR) not a LAMER (LOOK AT MY EGO REPLICA)
if basing your bike purchase on looks alone you are looking at the wrong bike & you should set your sights on Italy where their bikes are true eye candies, buy a Ducati 749/999 or even an MV Agusta F4 750/1000. Japs build bikes on a philosophy of "function before form" & if it looks good then that's an added bonus.

Honda didn't become the world's largest & best motorcycle manufacturer b'coz of it's products are good to look at, it's b'coz their products are very damn good.

THANK YOU!!! I just called one of your posts in another thread the best quote, but this is by far the better quote of the two. I would have said it myself, but you said it for me. PERFECT description.

I think I'm going to stay in this thread because the posts seem to be making more sense over here. I'm telling you all this talk about looks and colors and shtuff remind me of when I went car shopping with a lady friend. Picking the crappiest cars in the class just because it had the right colors and was "cute". Put some pants on boys and realize we got a good motorcycle here.

One correction though, I believe it's more "function that drives form". Everything on the bike is purposeful. I bet you the one's who are criticizing the look of the 07 have two ton wings on their Civics with 20" rims and are slammed to the ground, but can't negotiate a corner or make it down the street with any reasonable haste.

Every bikes that has a redesign phase say they have a new and improved midrange and top end power every year. Of course there needs to be improvements but the price shouldn't increase by $500 bux. There are many options out there and now people tend to pick a bike for its look & reliance. With a tag of $9,500 you can look elsewhere and save money. I guess if you bought a damper it would cost $400. We will just have to wait and see the price of other manufactures.

One thing I don't get is why people keep wanting more power more hp. Just upgrade your bike to a 750 or 1000 geez.

I will agree with you to a certain extent, but lets put it into perspective.

If you take every registered member on this board who owns a 600 RR I'm willing to bet that only 10% actually use it as a track/race bike. For the sake of argument lets make it 30%. If you produce a product, which group would you focus your sales on, the 70% or the 30%?

I bought my RR for two reasons, the first is the looks, the second is no one else I rode with owned one.

My next street bike purchase will have nothing to do with specs. My decesion will be based off of what will make me smile everytime I walk into my garage. My guess would be that is what a majority of street riders want as well.

You are correct, it is a race oriented bike and in our minds should be treated as such. Unfortunatley I highly doubt that even 10% of Honda's RR bike sales are used for that purpose. People are complaining because there is no reason a bike cannot be made for both performance and looks (Triumph's 675 for example). The biggest complaints about this bike for the trackday/racer group should be "where the hell is the slipper?", and "what about contingency money?". If I were a competitive racer Honda would not even cross my mind, Suzuki would. It has all the basic essentials and thier pay out program is the best.

Looking at pictures of the bike on the internet is misleading. I remember the first pictures of the redesigned R-1 and thought it looked like crap, seeing it in person has fully changed my mind (as well as when Ducati changed thier design). I hope the same goes with the RR.

as long as the factories think they have to win RACES to sell STREET bikes, and are made to RACE thier STREET bikes, they will continue to sell RACE bikes for the STREET.

and if you like high-performance-pushing-the-technology-envelople-for-the-sake-of-going-fast bikes...then this is the golden age.
