Hey fellas, im new here. So i tried looking at all the posts to get an answer but there were so many i also tried to post it in the right place so hopefully i did.

Anyways i bought my first bike about a week ago and it ran great this morning i was on my way to work when it wouldn't start. The dash lights light up and as soon as i push the start button i get a click by the battery (im guessing its the relay clicking) i grabbed a multimeter and checked the voltage and im getting 12.4v. So i hooked up the battery and left it to charge, the charger says fully charged yet it just clicks. I couldnt do a load charge since the bike wont even crank.

Im not sure if i have a bad battery, or a starter or starter relay please help
Thanks in advance.

what year bike?

Battery original? (Yuasa?).....

OE batt has a habit of failing very rapidly, once it has hit it's "lifespan"....

Did it to me on my 09 after 3.5 yrs. (Cali bike, garaged, vigorously ridden almost every weekend)

Slow cranked on start, rode it about 60 miles, and OE batt was dead at gas stop!

its a 2005 I believe it might be the original battery but I have 12v if that matters and i hook it up to a charger and still all i get is a click by where the battery is. The dash lights up and i noticed that when i hit the start button i get the click and the headlights dim.

Alright guys so i have an update, i tried to push start the bike i was unsuccessful (i did not have enough speed) but i tried to turn it on with the start button just to see what would happen and sure enough it started right up so i went ahead turned it off and tried to turn it on again and it started right up again.

Can i now rule out the battery being an issue? What could be the issue?
