Thought some of you fellow speed junkies would appreciate these pics of me hitting the corners on my 1200cc sportbike- And with none of todays bikes rider aids like traction control, abs, active suspension, fuel injection blah blah blah.. Nope, this is a carb'd 12 year old ZRX1200-R and she weighs in at a hefty 490+LB. But the torque is most excellent @ over 100ft/lb, and makes a nice 150+HP too. ALMOST as quick as my R1, but just a really great all around machine (unlike SS/RR bikes for daily use IMO)- especially for the streets.
Depending on the bar position, I can either get into a clean tuck, or sit more upright and cruise long distances..







And a very casual approach HAHA (with the bikini fairing installed- I uses Dzus quick fastners for the front end, and can switch from Naked-Square headlight, to racing numberplate, to bikini fairing in less then 30 seconds for the ultimate in practicality!)




With my most upright bars- very comfortable!

Well thanks for looking! I personally think the photos turned out well, and after 15+ years of riding, I have found the overall most fun bike for me, personally- after owing almost 20 different ones. I'm constantly happy with the big Z- but wouldn't mind adding a CB1000 to my stable in the future!

Looks similar to the bike that James Compton built for the Pikes Peak race

Sweet bike, love those old beasts !!

Just curious what you've done to the motor to get those big hp numbers? Seem to remembers those being in the ~120hp range stock so that's a pretty big boost without a turbo or supercharger.

Thanks guys! She's not a sharp steering, light, new bike, but I do enjoy the corner stability when leaned over, and the fact you really have to muscle this one into the turns. And the cool thing is the eccentric chain adjusters, which allows you to flip the axle position and also dial in/out about an inch of wheelbase...So there's adjustability in the setup options. Not the flat out best at any one single task, but very excellent at just about all of them. Just a really FUN ride.

Miweber, It's ~150 at the crank, so prob 135hp at the wheel. Most guys are getting 130WHP with the stock carbs, and a jet kit + full exhaust.
I did the full titanium exh from Japans "K-Factory" which is suburb quality, and weighs next to nothing. Also the Flatslide carbs, the "race only" FCR's (HUGGGE Difference in throttle control along with a nice bump in power) then the mechanical ignition advancer. Plus a more agressive set of cams. This bike is like working on a hotrod, with big bore hi-comp kits available cheap, and that's where the real gains are to be had. I havent bothered yet, but if the motor ever goes pop, that's the first thing I'm getting, a Muzzy 1224cc 13.5:1 setup. With the supporting mods that I already have, guys are easy getting 165++HP to the wheel with some mega TQ numbers. Now if I could just drop 50LBS of the bike, I'd never feel the need for another sportbike. Ever. It would be perfect.
