I'm braving VIR on Monday. Are you planning on going to Summit at the end of April with TPM?
Goodluck! Keep her shiny side up an enjoy just being at such a high caliper track!! :retard:

Haven't planned that far in advance but I see myself trying to make it.

Crash, can you give some more info on this kind of stuff? I'm looking to get into a track day at least once this summer, but I have no idea how to get started. I'm not far from VIR or NCBike (I'm in the Raleigh area). I have lots of questions - like do I need the Inside Pass on Team Pro-Motion's site, is the track fee per day or for the whole weekend/week, where are the beginner rides (I haven't been on a track on the bike), what needs to be done to the bike (headlights, remove mirrors, do I need safety wire, etc)? I know some of this info is available on different sites, but I'd like to get some anecdotal advice from someone who's actually done the track days with the orgs.

TIA!

Doom,

Hit me with all your questions. I will be happy to answer them all and if I don't know them....I probably know someone that does.

Always excited about helping someone get to the track!! :banger:

For your first time, you can signup as someone's guest and pay the same price as they do for the weekend. For FullThrottle(FT) members....Friday-Sunday Track Days are $150 PER DAY. TPM offers a $20 discount if you sign up for 2 days back to back. And $35 discount if you signup for 3 days back to back. After you've tried out TPM for the first time, you will need to pay for a membership or pay the walk-on costs which are substantially higher and doesn't guarantee you a spot on the track.

TPM offers 5 riding groups but will only run at most 4 groups per Track Day. They go as follows: White (Novice-First Time Track-Goers), Yellow (New-Intermediate), Red (Fast-Intermediate), Blue (Advanced), Black (Racers)

A typical's day rotation is 15 minute sessions of: Blue/Black, Red,Yellow,White/ART School

**NOT TRYING TO MARKET ---just advise**
ART School is a class TPM offers to help new riders get familiar with the track and learn benefial techniques. Its not required but HIGHLY recommended. There's sooo much to take in on your first few track days and missing important information can be easy. With the school, you'll have someone will you all day that can answer your questions and provide excellent feedback. I've seen it way too often where an over confident new track rider gets out on the track their first time....and wads up their bike.

Bike Prep: All you need to do is:
~Tape up your headlights,brake light,mirrors,reflectors,license plate.
~You will need to make sure your throttle opens/closes properly and doesn't stick.
~No leaky residue indicating blown fork seals.
~Make sure your Chain has proper tension..Not too Loose, Not too Tight
~Make sure your tires aren't flat....yes, I've seen this come through tech before
~Make sure all your brake pads have good life left on them
~Make sure ALL your brakes catch/stop the bike (yes, they will fail you for a Rear brake not catching properly)
~No visible leaks (oil,anti-freeze)
~Please check your Oil Plug torque the day before or day of. (people lose their plugs/filters ALL the time because they didn't want to spend the 15 minutes checking)
~No safety wire is needed but recommended when you're running Red group and Blue group.

Rental gear is available most TDs upon advanced requests from TPM.

Track Day Schedule:
Tech Inspection usually opens at 7:00am and closes at 8:15am
Riders Meeting is from 8:30-8:55am
First Call for Blue Group is at 8:50am
Track goes HOT at 9:00am
Lunch is usually between 12:30-1:30pm
Track Resumes at 1:30pm
Track goes COLD between 5-6pm

Raleigh isn't too far from NCBike at all. On a weekend you're free but not ready to ride....you should shoot up to NCBike and chill in the pits/watch a few sessions.

Doom, really sorry I was all packed up right as soon as you were arriving!! Bad timing on the tires parts to start letting go lol Also crushed my phone Saturday morning so I didn't have any communications for the 2 days :(

I hope the trip was nice for you all and that it was productive! I'll keep in touch for the next time I go out there.

Doom,

What are you doing Memorial Day weekend? Looking like a few of us will be heading out to NCBike for a double header.
