I was just reading this article: http://www.kcra.com/news/10042395/detail.html

Towards the bottom it mentions putting together a video highlighting the dangers of riding, including crash scenes with fatalities... Sort of like "Red Asphalt" was designed to make new drivers heed the dangers of driving like an idiot.

What do you guys think? Would seeing a video like this make YOU think twice about riding like an asshat?

Personally, I think it's a good idea. Best to learn from others' mistakes.

IMHO- it won't help anyone from being an asshat. The video is good because of its' intentions, but it will not stop people from doing stupid sh*t. I swear that some people lose at least 50 IQ points as soon as they see a bike; a video will not help.

Any thing that helps is good.

But I think they should make one as well that care drivers have to watch that shows how bad it is when they run over us.

I think it is a terrible idea. I don't want good riders seeing a video like that. It may scare them from being assertive when they need be. I don't want people riding with fear or anxiety on the mind. I would rather people ride reasponsibly without the need of scaring them shvtless with bloody pictures and/or video. I don't think it will teach the real asshats to drive any different then the way they already do.

I tell any of my friends that decide to start riding to go find pictures of crashes online. You see the cool and fun parts of owning a motorcycle pretty easily every day, but to be fully informed and make correction decisions, you need to be exposed to the ugly sides of it too. That will help you make the correct decision when it comes to risks, gear, and training. You have to be aware of the risks of the game and thats its quite possible that you could have a closed casket funeral (god forbid). if those are things you can't deal with, then you shouldn't ride.

I think someone could put together a little powerpoint slide show of crash pics pretty easily to get something like this started. I know there was a website that had a large of uncensored crash pictures simply as an educational tool. Something like that RoadRashQueen page thats been posted here is a good wakeup call for people who ride without gear.

Sounds llike a great idea. A manditory video the DMV makes you rent before letting you get your learners permit. Kind of like traffic school videos.
