Ok so this was happening to me earlier in the summer, my fuel pump wasnt priming, i didnt rid efor like 2 weeks maybe 3 and then when i was unloading it from the truck i got on it and flipped the key and the pump primed and it started right up.


I have been riding it ever since no problems, i get on it today and the fuel pump wont prime, it tries starting and just keeps trying to turn over but it isnt getting fuel so it isnt going to. But what the heck keeps happening, it literally just decided to not start again. What can i do because right now its my only form of transportation so......


any one kno what is happening. thanks

Check the fuses and relay?

Have you checked to make sure your kill switch is in the run position and the terminals inside are making contact (actually taking it apart and cleaning things)?

maybe a loose wire somewhere or plug. It could have rattled back and forth a little to make the connection and now its fallen apart again. take the seat off and have a look inside

I dont think its any fuses, those were easy enough to check, how do i know if the relays are bad, and i need to take the kill switch apart is what im understanding??????

If the kill switch is in the run position when this happens, you may have to take the kill switch apart.

Simple way to check the relays is to listen for them to click. When you turn the ignition switch on, is there a clicking noise coming from the relay/fuse box?

Just an idea but when I first purchased my RR my fuel pump wouldn't prime and the bike wouldn't start. So I bought a new wiring harness and fuel tank with pump. Before installing the new tank I switched the harness and while doing so I ensured all clips and plugs were seated correctly. After switching the harness the bike started right up! There for I know the problem was the harness it self or a lose connection. So maybe you can get the fairings off and trace all the connections and unplug and replug them... May work and won't take longer than an hour to do....

If not the kill switch or relays have a look at the diode on the back of the ignition switch.

Are these relays clicking loud enough to hear without removing the fairings? I dont think i hear anything clicking, do i need to replace the whole harness to change the relays?

The relay should be loud enough to hear without removing the fairings.

First thing to check is the kill switch, then the relays, then the ignition diode. If the kill switch is bad, no power will go through the relays. You can easily test the relays by tapping on it and see if it then clicks and activates the fuel pump, or by swapping it with a similar known good one.

Ok well the relays definately are not clicking, took the fairings off and didnt hear anything. Havmt had a chance to check the kill switch, how easy is that going to be. Do i take it in to a dealer or shop, im broke.

Hell no, DIY mate.

Just pull the screws out of the bottom of the switch, comes apart in two halves. Then you just grab every solder point and (gently) give them a wiggle, if it breaks off resolder it and your done.

k nice, thats easy enough. Nothing like being in indianapolis with no bike to ride for moto gp weekend, talk about messed up

I thought it was the sensor to so i leaned it over both ways almost to the gorund hoping it would reset itself, i guess i need to take it apart... maybe its bad? Do they go bad?

Not likely, its just a mercury switch so there is nothing in it to really wear out.

Much more likely that its the kill switch.

You can bypass the BAS if your concerned about it though.
