Back in my CB750 days I used an Eclipse magnetic tank bag. Sold the bike but saved the bag. It collected dust for 4 yrs and this last year of owning the RR which, obviously, it won’t work on. The Magnetic base unzips, so I emailed Eclipse to see if they made or would make a strap-base. No and No.
Cleaned up, it is in new condition so was about to put it on Ebay and thought of building straps into the bottom of the rear seat and sewing channels into the bottom of the bag. I had some unused cordura bags from trade shows and cannibalized one so this whole thing cost me about $8 in heavy duty needles and thread, a little hardware, and a few hours due to the necessity of a couple thousand stitches and assembly. Then I put electrical tape on the tail to protect the paint. Will probably get some 3M film soon. I was also inspired to experiment after viewing some other tail bag mods on here (You know who you are…and I dared think I was being original). Jammed it full of towels, speed tested, and yanked it all around by hand. It’s not going anywhere.
The front nylon straps are mounted with existing hardware. Rears are held in with recessed nuts (Had to partially remove and re-staple the upholstery). When not in use, I Velcro the straps back under the seat and the absence of any straps on top cleans up the look.
To give you an idea of volume, I wear a 2XL HJC and the main chamber just barely zips shut around it. Can squeeze size 13 shoes in the small chamber. It has 4 other peripheral pockets. No need for the backpack anymore. Can probably fit a solo tent, change of clothes, fix-a-flat, first aid kit, my .45, and some snacks.
Happy camper.

I actually bought another rear seat and bolted a tailbag base straight through it. It ain't going nowhere. I just unzip it off the base pad and I'm good to go...or....just unlock the seat and bag and replace it with my regular seat for taking the wife out. When I get a chance, I'll post some pics up.
