Alright I have a '06 600rr and it was completely stock...ran fine on 90 degree days and every so often hit 220...i had the plastic painted and installed a mircron slip-on(no re-mapping) and used repsol oil. Now on 70 degree days riding the same roads it hit 223 like its nothing and is starting to melt the paint around the engine vents. What the heck is going on? Coolant level is fine...is it running lean because of the pipe? Will a re-mapping and PCIII fix the problem? I really need to figure this out because the paint has agreed to paint the bike one more time for free and if it melts again its my problem...he is custom bike painter and im almost certain its not crap paint...the engine just seems to be putting off too much heat.

The pipe should not be the problem. If it is an 06 it should still be under warranty.

so this is a big problem? Its not like its really overheating its just getting hotter faster and more often...not acutally overheating, but just running hotter.

If you are running and your temp is at 223 then that is a problem. Your fan should kick on around 219......Has the bike been down?

no, and the fan does kick on at 219...ive seen rr's reach 227 at stops easy...it usually runs 198 cruising around at 25-30mph...it used to run 180 before the changes in oil and exhaust.

My 03 hits 236 at stop lights before it stops going up and I don't have a problem. OEM paint though, so I don't know if thats a difference.

Try running water wetter or engine ice instead of regular coolant.

Im just stating that it ran alot cooler before and would like to know why and how I can get it back down to where it was before...i will try engine ice

198 for a cruising temp. seems a little high to me.....In your first post I thought you meant the cruising temp was 223....Have you looked at the radiator to see if there is an unusual amount of debris on it?

is your radiator blocked? is your coolant low? If your answer to both these questions is no, then your engine is running lean.
