TRACK JUNKIES DREAM WEEKEND

Well i have had a seriously petrol fuelled weekend.

yesterday i was riding at snetterton, which is a unbelievably fast circuit, the back straight is 6th gear flat out on the limiter and the corner exits are soooo fast. Had a good day and met a couple of really nice guys who we were sharing a garage with.

They told us (me and my friend) that they were riding at brands hatch tomorrow (today Sunday)

So after waking up feeling really really sore from the heavy braking the day before, i made a few phone calls and half an hour later i was at brands hatch waiting for a spot to get out on track, ( we hadn't booked so we had to wait till few people had crashed) i know I'm a vulture!

Anyway come 11-am i got the nod from the organisers. The thing that was great about today is that it was an open pit-lane (basically no sessions and you can ride as much and as long as you like) i put in about 150 laps over the day, and i did 2 50 minute sessions and held a consistent pace for most of the laps. Today was amazing and one of my 50 minute runs was probably my best ever session on track, everything was falling into place, got the rear spinning a few times when the tyre got really really hot toward the end of the run.

I really hope track-day organisers here in the uk start to run more days with this open pit-lane format, i really allows you to find you rhythm and get your riding consistent

i hope to get some photo's from the 2 days in the week sometime when they post them up on their web-sites

50 minutes sessions....... wauw man you must had arm pump like crazy and some serious stamina.
to be honest the arms weren't to bad, I've now managed to get Brands indy circuit down to just 3 braking point i can hit the rest of the corners with no brakes, i make up alot of time in these places.

I did have to keep talking to myself, telling myself to relax so i didn't tense up to much, i think i could have at least another 20 minutes but i was running of fumes and needed fuel.

I had a few good little battles for track with a couple of GSXR 1000's but the corner speed i could carry was alot higher and it won over after a few laps and put a nice gap on them
Paul... question.

How do u use Tire warmers? I'm looking at getting a set from CozyE. Some T2 Tire warmers with a digital thermo but i have absolutely NO experience using warmers but i'll be running supercorsa SC2 this season so i'm getting a set
put them on and plug them in mate. i run mine at 80 degrees.

as soon as you come in from a session put them straight on. keep the tyre temps up. The less heat cycles the better for tyre life.

there is not much to them really.

but remmber to switch the off and uplug them when you take the off and go out on track. If you don't they will end up in smoking ball of flames
Lol every time I hear paul has been to the track it makes my wait unbearable. Tracks around my area are not up and running until late March!

:rocker: that's awesome paul. i've been lucky enough to run some 50 minute sessions, but not for most of an afternoon. must've of been rewarding taking it to the litre bikes too. days like this will surely help your efforts w/endurance racing as well. congrats on having a couple of great days back to back & getting more familiar w/your :j:07
50 minutes is a hella long time at speed Paul. Hats off man, I sometimes am praying for the checkered flag during 20 min sessions!! LOL
heyy paul sounds like u had fun what lap times u manage to get down to on your bike arround snetterton my best pn my honda with just pipe and powercomander was a 1:13:70 what aboutt youu ?? get some pic up asap
1.13 on a stock engine with pipe and pc 3, u sure. that would have put you 8th on the grid in British Super Sports last session with all the factory and heavily tuned bikes.

thats some pace mate. i was well off that mate. my best was a 1.19.

First time there for me
Hey paul! I may be swapping my Sato Rearsets for a set of Gilles with a member of the forum! Got the new model ones but gilles none the less.
