As others have stated here, the X-RAM mount is great.
I have it with zero issues, paired up with a in-line fused charger to the 12v battery. The line's plug has a tip that can accommodate my iphone, or can be removed to expose a microusb plug that can charge android or other various devices.
Works perfect.

I had a Moto-D mount but when I tried to installed it, it wouldn't even lock, in fact, it stripped entirely. Returned it.

X Grips are good. I have mounted it on my 07 and it works well.
I bought this from amazon will charging point. It has a small switch, so u can directly connect it to the battery and no need for additional switch.

The RAM stem is a good option, but little pricy, to mount it to the center. But if u r a DIYer like me, u can pickup few hardware from AceHardware for < $5. U can use the same principle that of a bicycle handle bar. :)

Hope this helps some of you.

Could you post some pictures showing how you mounted this ram kit to your bike?

Ok old thread but I thought let me tell you how I fixed this phone mount issue with my Macgyver tactics, this is simple and cheap.
So I had some 30mm wide Velcro strips in my drawer with the adhesive backing on both the male and female (let me tell you the adhesive is very very strong) I put the male on the tank on the top part where there is like a U shape indent, and the same size female strip to the back of my phone cover.
that’s it simple it will never fly off your tank since it is protected by the windscreen.
This is not for everyone, I don’t mind a little Velcro on the back of my phone.
