Mods, sorry if this is in the wrong category.

Took the damaged stator cover off and found that the engine case is damaged as well.



The shop doing the insurance appraisal has not looked at the bike yet.

I am assuming that insurance companies do not "consider" this as repairable, and that a new engine would be in order. The cost of new engine on top of the other parts might push it towards being totaled.

1. Am I correct in assuming this?
2. What percentage of the bikes fair-market-value enters "totaled" territory?
3. Anyone want a track bike? :roll:

I'm no insurance expert but I think I'm taking a good guess by saying that would be called "totalled" or "economically unrepairable" by the labor cost alone.

I wonder if that can be welded.

The insurance company has to repair it to OEM specs. The labor for a complete teardown of the motor will probably lean them towards totalling it. Welding it or using JB weld won't be an option for them. Just one girls POV. ;-)

I wonder what it will cost to buy it back from the insurance co.?

I wonder if Hell is anywhere near Kansas City :twisted:
