Well I finnally did it, I went to the track and got to experiance first hand what it is like to go balls to the wall on a track. Now that I've done it I'm addicted and have begun to sign up for a flury of track days.

My first day was at Thunder Hill with trackxperience on 9/25/06 and that was a great way to start out. The way thier program works is its pretty much an open track all day long instead of having specific groups go out, they let everyone go out at once and just have fun. This allowed me A LOT of track time exposure thus allowing me to gain my confidence quickly. And I did not follow the advice of many and decided to RIDE up and back on my bike. The two hour drive at 4am was FARKING COLD.

Welcome to the addiction man :)

Keep us posted when you start racing ;)
Nice pics. You are tempting fate though with riding up and back though. A mechanical or worse a crash and you are stuck. There are plenty of people that have space on a trailer for some gas money and a little company. Post up on BARF when you need a ride and I'm sure someone can hook you up with a lift.
Try to make it to Laguna this Friday 10/6/2006
Should be lots of fun. I have never ridden Laguna so I very excited.
There is still room in all three groups.
thetrackclub is the one putting it on if you want to sign up.
nice pics, i know u had fun
man...i'm on the wrong coast....:(

nice pics!!! and i'm happy you had a good time!
wow 3 trackdays in 3 weeks....u did a flyaway like the motogp dudes these past 3 races, lol. lookin' damn good out there for a 1st time tracker. i did my 1st on the 25th with red shift at buttonwillow and their class set-up is pretty good, i just wish they talked more about body positioning and throttle control...also, the main instructor (dan i think) was talking all day about passing nicely and on the 2nd session after lunch he buzzes by me on the straight away...what an ass hahaha.

i agree with u about buying pics, i just went to the website of the guy that did my trackday and tried to critque myself from the low-res pics. glad u had a good time and yea i agree with snik and others get urself a ride....rent a truck or something dude.

oh yea one more thing laguna is like in the boons...i like all the "danger explosive testing site" signs as u ride in, lol. go figure why they have a decibel limit at that track with that going on in their backyard.

Haha I live in the boonz.. Laguna is in my backyard. Seriously, I rent the land to scramp. Fort Ord is an old army base where they used to train troups and the danger signs are there because of the un-used ammo that is laying around on the grounds. They had a fire a few years back. Bullets were flying everywhere. The local people that moved next to the racetrack complained so they enforced the noise limit. Now they can have only so many days out of the year when they can host events. Greatful dead was like hippyvill around here. Laguna Seca Dayz was a trip. The pope blessed the grounds and the A1 grand Prix was going off in the rain with snow covered mountains in the background...

Sorry for the thread jack. See you on Friday! I hope it's not raining like it is now:(

oh man what an amazing pic. wow, do u really rent the land to scramp?? holy crap you must be rich as hell, cv!

too bad motogp cant be in the spring instead of the hottest days of the summer. hopefully there won't be a heat wave next year. I bet it's hard for the officials to support such a huge crowd but I hope there's better motorcycle parking next year...I almost ate it a few times off-roading my 600rr.
G
Haha.. The Monterey County parks department rents the land to scramp and a percentage of the local tax I pay goes to the Monterey County Parks Dept. And anything within 15 min. of my house I call my backyard ;)
ah, indirectly your's i get it =) that's cool either way how the track is so close to you. monterey is an awesome place...cant wait to hit it up again next year.

this year, on the way up we took this route:
101N
Rte 33
Lockwood Valley Rd (due to 33 being washed out)
Cuddy Valley Rd ->Mt Potero Hwy -> Cerro Noroeste Rd
Rte 33/166N through Maricopa, then thru Taft
Then to Rte 58 back to 101 and stayed in Greenfield.

I can't tell you how amazing of a ride that was. It started raining on Mt Potero Hwy and we went straight thru it with lightning and thunder. The view was amazing...it's crazy how some parts of California can make a person feel truly thankful to be alive...and even more amazing to experience it all on a bike.

Can't wait til next year.

Actually it was 3 trackdays in ONE week.....Not to toot my own horn or anything....TOOT. (Edit: wow I just read that and it sounded uber ghey)

And yes the main instructor with Redshift is Dan.

OH and Yes I will be attending the OCT. 6th trackday at Laguna with Club Desmo. I just purchaced a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Loredo V8 today and will have to scramble to find a trailor hitch for it so I can toss my bike on a U-haul Trailor tomorrow night.
dang...i didnt see this thread.

nice pics, lookin good out there mang!
i dont see you draggin pegs haha.

btw...thats some balls and dedication
to ride to and from your trackdays.
good to hear you got a vehicle now!
its only gonna get colder from here on out. lmao
lol...ya I removed the feeleres on my first day at Thill because I was grinding them too much.

The last pic on my Laguna Seca portion I actually dragged my peg and toe on that one...photographer just took the pic before the apex of the turn is all.
man, that's hardcore. i can't imagine myself riding to the track. but im glad you had a blast!

looks like we live in the same neighborhood. im i Concord. you should try out Sears Point/Infineon Raceway. it's my fave within our immediate area.

Get off the bike more, you don't want to make a habit of dragging hard parts! I am super jealous, house repairs (and setting up a new race bike) have kept me off track for far too long. Six days this season and only one race are driving me CRAZY!!! At least I have 2 more days at Infineon paid for and will hopefully get a Thill day in. Hope to see you out there, if you see a gixxer 750 with #730 on it come say hi.
Well the sucky part about Friday....The trailor I rented got a Flat Tire....GHEYYYYYYYY.

WASTE OF MONEY NOT GOING TO THE TRACK :sad3:

So far from what I've seen there aren't many trackdays at Sears Point/Infineon.

I signed up for one in Dec...hope it isn't raining that day. If so, that will make an interesting track day.
Dec 6 with ZZ? If so see you there. There are a bunch of days at Infineon, but you pretty much have to sign up at the beginning of the year to get them. Plus there's four AFM rounds there if you feel like you wanna race.
Yes...Dec. 6 with ZZ.....I want to get a few more track days in before I decide if I'm ready to hold the ass end of the AFM. If so....I'm going to be poor next year.
