piracy isnt the problem, its the censorship that is the issue. This is just going to make piracy even worse. Way back in the days, ppl copy cassette tapes and videos and sell them. Then it got worse with the cd technology, making it easier to copy and distribute content. Then, they shut down the early P2P programs like Morpheus, Kazaa, Napster etc. Then what happened? Torrent happened, and they've created a monster bigger than they can even imagined, losing hundreds of billions of dollars in the past 10 years. Torrent now accounts for almost half of all internet traffic. It's not going away that easy. Even if it does go down, something bigger will just replace it.
SOPA was blocked. I'm absolutely certain that this is not their last attempt though!
i just got this in my email box this morning.
"Happy Holidays -- we have some great news to share.
We've just won two huge battles in the fight against Internet censorship -- everything you are doing is working! First off, the House of Representatives failed to move SOPA out of committee! Why? Because their offices got swamped with phone calls and overwhelmed by the snowballing opposition. Thank you for helping make that happen.
