I wasnt sure what size jacket I would need, so I went to try some on today at a shop. I first tried them on with the sweatshirt (no hood) I was wearing, and the 48 fit the best. Then I took of the sweatshirt and just had my t-shirt on and the 46 fit real nice. My question is should I go with the size that fit with the sweatshirt or without?

I would say go with one that is a little oversized in case you have extra layers underneath when it's cold out. Expecially in Jersey!
Absolutely NOT!!!!!

You should have the closest fitting leathers that are still comfortable. The reason being that if you have a get-off and it is too loose, the leather will shift and the armor will not protect you as well and the armor can shift, not protecting you and possible allowing the leather to wear through. Also, if you intend to wear a back protector, take out the shitty foam pad and try the jacket with the back protector on.

If you're cold, wear something OVER your jacket. Don't be stupid, your skin will thank you.

Go with the 46 US. It needs to be snug... and be almost "skin-tight" in certain places. Remember... leather will break-in and get slightly looser. Also... you need to put on the jacket and then get into a riding position or even better... go sit on your bike as if you were riding it. Don't worry too much about the length of the sleeves... since hopefully you are clever enough to get some gauntlet-style gloves that will go over the sleeves of the jacket anyway. If it is loose... it will gather in certain critical areas if you crash... and cause you to roll instead of slide... as well cause more damage between the inside of the jacket and your skin. Now... if you put it on... zip it all the way up... and are having difficulty breathing... then get one size above that. From what you have stated above... it seems that a US 46 or Euro 56 is the size for you. Protection (which includes correct fit) should be the priority over warmth... when choosing your gear.

Feel free to call me for more info.

Cheers... Nick - MRI

ridersinc,
Thanks Nick. Good explanation!! I will be calling within 2 weeks. My gf wants to get this for me for V-day, so after I get back from Mexico on the 7th, I'll give you a call.
