one reason that I know of is that it'll freeze in colder weather (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

from my past experience-nothing. But given the fact that I have winter here in NYC-i just have to flush my cooling system again-b4 winter and put in engine ice.

distilled water will just prevent rust in ur system when compared to tap water.

but if u do run distilled water-put in water wetter with it and ur good to go(u still have to drain it during winter-so it doesn't freeze)...

What PATBAROK said.

Yes!!! If you are running ONLY water in your cooling system, AND live in a climate where the temps hover around (or below) the freezing mark during winter, it would be STRONGLY ADVISED to drain the water in your cooling system prior to winter.

If you only have water in the cooling system during winter, it will surely freeze if the bike is left outdoors or in a un-heated garage/storage space.

Think - when water freezes, it expands - just imagine that in your engine.

Keep in mind that Honda Radiator Fluid does have lubricating properties for the water pump as well. Distilled water alone would provide no lubrication..
any coolant worth a damn does

including adding the prescibed amount of water wetter.
