I have a 2006 cbr 600 rr. When i ride it gets up to 220 and the fan kicks on but the temp doesnt go down, it just continues to go up. When i begin riding again it goes down again without hesitation. if i rev it while stopped it will drop a few degrees, any suggestions?

sounds like my issue, and im still tracking this one

ive replaced fan, tstat, cap, water pump, multiple flushes, only thing left is radiator replacement :/


if its not that then there is something else feeding the heat, headgasket, or some other bs thing.

OP, it sounds like the coolant may just need replacing...

Tenjin, have you tried hooking up a garden hose to the bottom radiator hose and then putting bursts of compressed air through it? The air bubbles can knock loose corrosion build up inside the engine... and you can do the same thing with the radiator as well... you will obviously then have to drain the system and flush a few times with distilled water before starting the bike.

I replaced the fluid with fresh antifreeze because i thought the same thing. but its still giving me the issue. The only thing i havent done is a full on flush and using air pressure to break debris. hopefully thats it. any other things it could be?

this sounds kind of normal to me. when my fan kicks on, it may drop the bike a few degrees, but nothing drastic. I believe it's purpose is to stop the bike from overheating, maintaining the temp that it is at, until cooler air from riding it can bring the temp back down.

if you read the post, both he and i, experience where the temp continues to climb, slowed down sure, but it continues to climb.

I had this same problem with my zx7r. I would definitely give it a few good flushes. Not just drain and fill but with water and air pressure. You'll be surprised at how much **** comes out. Especially if you don't use distilled water with your fluid changes. After you flush it good, add some good anti-freeze, distilled water only and some water wetter. While you have it apart, remove the thermostat also.

Then, take the bike for a good ride. When you get home, leave the bike running and see if after the fan kicks on it holds a temp under 230 degrees. If it holds your pretty much good to go. Now, reinstall the thermostat then go for another ride. Repeat diagnostics and see if it holds. If it does then your good to go, if not then you have a bad thermostat and it needs to be replaced.

Now, if all that fails I would test the thermostatic temp switch. They don't usually fail but I've had it happen.

Sorry, skip that lsat part. You said your fan kicks on when I should so it's not the thermostatic temp switch.

thankss guys for the info, im going to give it a good flush. also when the fan kicked on when i had a 2005 version of the same bike the temperature would begin to drop, all the way down to 210 degrees depending on how hot the day was. so there is def something up here/
