Rear Axle Nut Size

I was going to take off the rear tire but I don't have the right size socket.
I will have to bring it from work tomorrow. Is it 26mm? Thanks,

I wanted to adjust the chain but you need a huge socket to loosen the rear axle nut. Seems closer to 30mm.

use a 1+1/4" socket, it will fit better than the mm equivalent. that is what i use.

Just take your wrench in your tool kit and match up the size. Hold the tool up to a socket and see if it matches the size.

i know that they are two different sizes, and the smaller one is a 27mm.... not sure about the bigger one though

I used the 1-1/4 socket and it worked just fine. Had to replace my tire after the first ride because I picked up a nail.

To just adjust the chain you dont need the 32 mm just the 27.

Don't you need to loosen both nuts to to adjust the screw on either side?
Sorry this is all new to me.

Its an axle bolt and nut right? So wouldn't you need to have a wrench on both sides to loosen or tighten it?

use the 27mm closed end that came in the toolkit and a 32mm or 1+1/4" socket on the other side.

be sure to use a six-point socket. the 12-points will slip.

The 1¼" socket is definitely BETTER than the 'real' metric one. Cheaper too...

Don't forget, it's 83 ft/lbs of torque on that rear nut!
