PLEASE HELP! I replaced the rear tire on my bike about a month ago and i've done it many times before without any issues and didn't notice any movement after the first couple of rides but nowif you push and pull the the rear tire side to side you get a feeling of it moving it. It feels like its moving about a 1/8th of inch each way. You can feel the moving from taking off from a stopped position or at high speeds. I checked the axel it was torqued to specs and everything seems to be in the right place but i cant figure why its doing it?

I was thinking wheel bearing but any other suggestions?

Could be a dead wheel bearing... did you get all of the spacers is and in the right spots?

Just as nico said = either a dead bearing or you have forgotten a spacer - either is bad to ride on so stop riding till it is sorted.

Alright thanks for the advise guys i ordered the bearings from Hondapartsnation should be here in a week or so, the bike has 36,000kms so about 22,000 miles is that normal for a bearing to go?

Hey Nico, out of curiosity how often do you see a wheel bearing fail? I gotta think that's pretty rare.
Have yet to see one fail on a bike, cars I have seen a few and trailers too many... especially boat trailers.

Yeah but thats most likely due to poor maintenance / checks. She'll be right m8.. well hopefully.:retard: See boats on the side of the road all the time.. and there not for sale. :crackup:

Happens with boat trailers cause people like trying to drown them when they put the boat in... get a little salt into the grease and she is done for...

Depending on how steep the ramp is and how big the boat is alot of people dont have that choice. but if they were keeped in good service keeping the unit sealed and the bearings are lubed and adjusted correctly theres alot less chance of them letting in water / saltwater.

I've seen them fail before, but it was on bikes where the owner like to ride the bike like he stole it. I agree what was said earlier. Check to make sure your spaces are installed correctly. If they are, pull the wheel off and inspect the bearings. If it is the bearings, replace both sides and not just one bearing.

maybe they are set up a little differently over there, its not very often that its necessary to sink a trailer to its hub over here... its really only on beach ramps that you may do so. We also almost exclusively use drop axle trailers...

The attitude that people have to it over there may be a little different as well, I have even seen people back the trailer off the end of the ramp on a few occasions...

But yep, maintenance is key...

Yeah theres a lot of boat trailers up here with up to around about 5 - 6 meter boats on them that have straight axles. Which with say a 3 - 4 mtr tinny you'd be lucky if you have to wet the trailer tyres but when closer to a 5-6 meter glass boat your safer to at least dunk the axle (no one likes the sound of a boat bouncing off the concrete)

Then on the other hand you will get the people who like to get the front tyres on the tow vehicle wet with the back of their new car bathing in saltwater.. just for a 4-5mtr tinny:retard::crackup:

still waiting for the bearings to come in should be here tomorrow or monday fml, but i took your advise i stopped riding it for now, but since i have the rear tire off i ordered some rear pads, new 41T Cat5 sprocket and a new chain, gotta get the bike ready some major street riding and the drag strip ;)

yea my brother owned the bike before me i he had already geared it i think he went 1 or 2 down in the front and then went like 3 down in the rear because it was revving pretty high on the highway, there's a 40T on there right now so i thought id go up one get a little better acceleration.

It definitely sounds like a missing spacer! It would have to be a completely obliterated bearing to give an eighth inch on either side! When the wheel bearing went really bad on my truck, I had an eighth inch of play... radially.

Just doesn't sound like a bearing issue to me, although it's probably good to replace them anyways; that kind of movement will beat them up pretty good.

So the jobs officially done and the verdict is........bearing on the calliper side. pretty much all the grease was gone nice little grinding noise from it and the movement was from the centre of the bearing shifting back and forth. I had bought all the 4 of the rear bearings so since it was off i replaced them all even though the others were still in good shape. but thanks for all the help guys!
