Hi Folks!

My 2006 600 RR has a vibration and it's getting worse. It's looking like a transmission problem. The engine has about 80,000 km's on it and while the engine is great it has to come out for transmission work either way.

I found an engine from a 2003 with 6,000 km's on it. I am thinking of just doing a straight swap to save a lot of down time and then I can come back to the original engine at my leisure.

So the question is, is the engine from a 2003 the same as the engine in the 2006? Or are there differences? I was under the impression that there were differences between the first gen engines and the second generation engines.

Tx! But that one is going the other way ('06 to '03) From what I've seen so far the head was re-designed and is not the same. I might be heading for a complete re-build :(

So what of it's going the other way. The take aways are the same, which is that the engine bolts straight on, but you may need to swap throttle bodies, and rectify some slight electrical connector differences.

Of course you could rebuild what you have, but it seems like the swap is pretty straight forward.

I hear you but it sounds like the head is not the same so if I want to swap that then I might as well get it cleaned, new gasket, maybe shave it a bit for higher compression and if I'm doing that....then I'm thinking just go through it. Plus, the seller of the engine kind of pissed me off. He wanted $1,400 for it and given I have to swap the head anyway...might as well do it once and do it right.
