I've been doing a lot more work on the ol' 600rr as of late, and I'm learning more and more that the previous owner didn't really take good care of her at all. A lot of bolts are kind of cruddy/rusty/chewed up and I'm wondering if I'd hurt anything by replacing them with hardware from the local hardware store.

I don't really feel like paying a couple bucks a bolt when I can drive to the local True Value and get them for $.70 a piece.

I'm assuming a bolt is a bolt is a bolt.... right? I'm very good at losing bolts and screws, so I've already got replacement hardware holding my mirrors, parts of my fairings and battery terminals.

Opinions? Advice?

no harm unless they are special grade bolts. just stick to the grade that came on the bike and you will be fine

they also sell full fairing bolt kits for like 25 bucks
