This goes for the people out there with lots of mods that will make a theif creme himself. (Guys like moeman, cv, paul, etc...)

How do you go out with it? I orignally wanted a bike to just get good gas and ride everywhere, but I bought my bike with some goodies on it and since then i got addicted to the lifestyle so I only take it out for short meetings to go eat where I can see it, or to the canyon. Never to school/work/etc.

FYI my bike has an arata full ti, and pc3 and gets about 20-25ish mpg. (heh, better than my car...)

Anyways, I want to ride it more, but with cf parts and aftermarket out the ying yang I am scared to get jacked. Other than comments like "dont take it out then" or "why'd you buy it then" etc, please let me know. Glad I never got rims.. heh..

having goodies doesnt make it more a target, IMO. The bikes are a serious target already, any goodies are going to be a bonus to them. You should be worried even if you have a stock bike. Just look at ebay parts....

Get full coverage and dont worry about it.. I have a whole bunch of goodies on my bike, but I still ride it and leave it places alone.. that's why I got it.

Get the SR-i500 alarm it will help ease your mind (slightly). Just do the best you can about leaving it where it's HIGHLY visible!

I had my pretty much stock 954 stolen with my girls highly modded 600RR back in July. It does SUCK EXTREMELY BAD but I took a risk and I lost.

Luckily for me my 1000RR was safe!

your only gettin 20mpg? A bike that has alot of mods, especially one off pieces (modified body work, etc) will make a bike easier to spot by the cops.

This is EXTREMELY true.

After ours 2 bikes got stolen we spent months dealing with various detectives and police departments. We found that they actually recover HUNDREDS of bikes a year. Most of which the owners can't identify, whether it was because they didn't do much to their bikes or they just didn't know a thing about bikes...

Regardless do your mods, document them and take pictures. They may pay off!

Unfortunately my 14 page book complete with details and pictures didn't pay off... but we did see alot of recovered bikes. Just none were ours :(

Scorpian Bike Alarm and a Lo Jack. A good many dealers install lo jacks on bikes.
