I'm riding. 1st to 2nd. pulling the throttle gently to 3k-4k and the RPM would idle up and down 4k-3k up and down. don't know if its because I'm not pulling the throttle more or what but it happens too when i hit a pot hole. not sure if its normal or not

You have a brand new bike, take it to the dealer or f-ing ride the damn thing; stop trying to find problems.

OP, need a little more info than what you have given. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this forum but they cant read minds.

What do you mean by flutter? And for the whole fluttering when you hit a pot hole, the throttle on these bikes are very responsive so any little twitch from the wrist can greatly change your rpm. Your body is going to move slightly when hitting a pot hole so it could be that.

If you think something is wrong just take it to the dealer like Miweber929 said, or try to explain more so we can get a better idea of what is going on.

Stopp gripping the throttle grip so hard. You're probably moving and revving it yourself.

:+1:

Sounds about right. I noticed something similar shortly after I got my '09. I was putting some weight on the handlebars instead of supporting my weight with my core/legs. So every time I would hit a bump a small input into the throttle would cause a little jump in RPMs. These bikes are made to haul as soon as you twist your wrist so the throttles are typically pretty sensitive.

Does it ALWAYS happen between 3k-4k or do you only notice it when the roads are crappy?

1. Take an msf course
2. Go do a track day
3. Stop being so nervous and squeezing everything so tight you're not goin to fall off but you're certainly going to wreck if you keep being tense. Be fluid don't be glued down.
4. You should've gotten a smaller bike because you definitely aren't at the appropriate skill for a super sport.
5. Stay out of first gear once you're rolling it's sensitive so you'll jerk it and the entire bike is going to react to it.

If it's not YOU that's causing it, check the battery and make sure the wires are making solid contact with the battery terminals.

Judging by the threads you've posted you're FAR FAR FAR from a pro.

But thanks for the laugh.

There are so many variables that could impact the "sound" of your motor. One thing to consider is your speed and how slowly you "pull" your throttle. you may be slightly bogging the engine. These bikes (at least my 2007) goes up to 15K RPM. 3-4 is really low.

I was told once, "you have RPMs for a reason...Use them". They were referring to my GTO, but still concept applies to all motors.

New to bikes and a little over 100 miles (based on his other threads/posts)...

I must be too hard on myself...fifth season riding, almost 25k miles and I still kinda consider myself a novice at best :banghead:

Man you must not ride that often if it only has little over 100 miles. I got mine about the same time you did and I have put like 500 miles on mine already.
