Hi All, as the title says. I was pushing harder than I should have been on my 03' CBR600RR, the RPMs significantly decreased and the sound of the engine changed quite a bit. I got off the highway and noticed a long trail of white smoke coming out of the exhaust. I was still able to ride, but I could tell something was definitely very wrong so I shut the bike off and walked it home (i was less than a mile away, luckily). Does anyone know where to start here? My first guess is coolant, but not sure. I have everything taken apart and haven been trying to disgnose the issue by inspecting each part that gets taken off, im down to the valve shims at this point and nothing seems to be glaringly wrong other than two of the sparkplugs (see the attached pic). Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Would you mind elaborating? I thought I read that if it were the headgasket the oil would be very murky and when I drained it. It seemed to be fine. Still relatively bronze. I also thought the smoke would be dark, instead of white. Thanks!

Before draining both coolant, and oil both levels seemed fine. Oil was clean, the coolant look a bit darker than it should have but the level was ok. I hadnt run the bike too long after the RPMs dropped and I started seeing the smoke.

I'm treading into water I'm pretty unfamiliar with. I assume I would need to have the bike running in order to do so? Like I said, I have everything apart trying to diagnose that way. Would you suggest putting the bike back together, adding fluids, etc, to then drain everything, and do it again? Obviously I want to get the bike back and running that just seems like quite a lot. Could you also link a Compression Test instruction?

You'd only need to partially reassble the bike. And yes, that's the only way to get the answers you're looking for without just throwing a bunch of money and parts blindly at it. Both tools can be bought on the cheap at harbor freight, and are easy straight forward tests. If you're curious about them, a quick YouTube search will clear that up. Doesn't have to be specifics on a CBR or even a motorcycle for that matter. The technique is the same for any engine.

A blown head gasket doesn't necessarily mean oil is mixing with coolant, so milky coolant is not always present with a blown gasket. It could just mean combustion gases are leaking into the coolant passages. A sniff test can confirm the presence of combustion gases in the coolant. But yeah, start with a compression test.
