Seat cowl adjustment

1080 Views 15 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  jstock107
I just got my cowl yesterday and when I put it on it seems to be a little low near the rear of the cowl (not flush w/ the rear fender). Is there anyway to adjust the cowl so it will rise up a little and be fluch w/ the fender????

There are 4 washers in the plastic bag that the helmet lock cable comes in, look close and you`ll see them. Then just remove the 4 screws for the cowl base and put in what you need. Make sure its really locked down before you go riding, give it a few light tugs upward where it locks down at, would hate to read that it took flight on you. :D
Sometimes the 4 washers that came with the cowl are not enough and you will have to add your own. I had to add 2 extra to the back of mine. I know others have had to do it as well
Just get regular washers from the hardware store????
I had the same problem, and it was due to the rear plastic. I bought the cowl and used the washers to level it and everything was good. I removed the rear plastic to install my exhaust, and when I put everything back together I noticed the rear cowl was low vs the rear plastic ???? I took the rear plactic off again and noticed two small poles on the plastic by the brake light that go into two holes with rubber grommets on the chassis. After working with the plastic to align it into these holes it fit great. If you can see a lot of the bolt that your exhaust mounts too, chances are the rear plastic is not aligned onto these holes.
Make sure you get stainless steel or aluminum washers so that they wont rust and run down your tail.
How many of these things do you need? It seems like its not moving and I have like five washers on each side.
Are you putting the washers on the right side of the black plastic?? :? I can't see how it would need that many washers to get level. I only needed 1 washer on two sides.
you have to put them between the cowl base and the cowl itself.
whoops, I'm an idiot.
LOL... dont sweat it, live and learn.
I should have been a little more clear on that instead of just saying to remove the 4 screws.
cowl

i just installed my seat cowl adjusted the rear with washers it lines up great on the sides but theres a large gap at the top between the rear cowl and the seat cowl. any ideas  (not impressed with hondas fit on this one finish though is tipical honda fits like a aftermarket)
There is a piece of rubber on the inside of the cowl leading edge, on the other side of the little pad. Remove that and the whole cowl will sit further back on the base.

This was mentioned in the directions and works well to get the cowl to set more flush.
