Question of the day. Do hotbodies race fairings stand up as well as Sharkskinz :?: Between myself and my teamates we have given sharkskinz a lot of Research and Developement in regards to impacts with pavement and such. We have found the sharkskinz hold up extroadinarily well. They also mount up very well. Now we have some people trying to sell us hotbodies racing plastic and we are not totally sold on the idea....... SO you hotbodied racers out there (and anyone else out there that has an opinion worth listening to). Please let me know what you think.

Your poll asks, "which is better?" Sharskinz hands down is "better." Better quality and better fit! I've always had Sharskinz on my race bikes and have crash tested them as well! Now I have hotbodies on my RR. The Hotbodies is good enough for what I need...yeah it was a little PITA to mount up, but it worked out. Painted it and it worked out too. I have NOT crash tested the Hotbodies, nor do I want to or intend to, but just by handling the bodywork, you could tell the difference in the quality...sharkskinz being better in my opinion.

Good luck!

the new hotbodies bodywork is good stuff, the sharkskinz will crash a litlle better. but if u have a race license you can buy 2 sets of hotbodies to one set of sharkskinz. hotbodies has a great contingency program

or cheetah racing bodies, but i'm not done with the molds yet for the race set. sharkskins is our nearest competitor for quality and price. hotbodies is junk in this world, BUT it's the cheapest junk out of the top 5 bodywork manufacturers. between the two, sharkskins and hotbodies, I would suggest sharkskins all the way, they crash the BEST out of the two. but I to plug my guys as well. cheetah.

I recieved my hotbodies today for the 600rr. I was impressed with everything except the upper. The crack where the ram air mounts needs some sanding and filling.

The SBK tail, tank, lowers, mid and fender were as good of a quality as I could ask for on a race bike.

For the price....(we sell the full 600rr set to you guys for around 600.00) you cant beat them

I had a set of Sharkskinz on my F4i and they fit nicely. Just drilled the holes and they went on, I only had a kick stand fall in which someone backed into the bike and it fell. The Sharkskinz held up well, just some minor scrapes.

I'm currently working on my RR to make it a street/track bike and I purchased a complete set of Hotbodies bodywork. The tank didn't fit properly and even with the suggested modifications it doesn't fit to my liking. The underbelly also hits the exhaust in a few areas so I will have to put some exhaust tape so as not to make the fiber brittle. I also don't like the option of not keeping my stock seat. But for a racer it would be perfect. The price was great, just like someone said earlier you can buy two sets of Hotbodies for 1 set of Sharkskinz.

tech-d, why didn't you send them back and ask for a better fitting set? i would be pissed if i paid $600 for a set of fairings that are off by that much.

I used D-Zus fastners as pictured below:

Lucky: I'm working on getting my WERA license this year, so looks aren't my main concern. Plus due to that I was able to get the racers discount so they cost me less then $600.
