Having a problem with my shifter. I had the dealer replace a tab in the gearshift drum they said was bent. My warranty is up and the shifter lever won't drop right after I shift. It will eventually drop down, so I can shift, but takes a little time. Before the shifter engages, it's just floppy. Anyone have any ideas? Is it a spring or something.
Please help. I have a track day this Monday and would like to gt if fixed before then.

It's a piece of metal that controls the return. That piece is likely fine and you probably bent the tab out again. Is there horizontal play in the shift shaft?

There is a little bit of play in the shifter.
Is this something I can replace myself?

If there is play in the shaft then you probably bent the tab again. Often caused by using a hammer to connect the linkage to the shaft.

You can fix anything on the bike yourself if you know what you're doing, the fact that you have to ask if you can do it probably means that you can't.
