I don't know if this is a transmission issue or clutch cable adjustment issue, but when the bike is shut off I am able to flip through the gears with minimal effort. I don't notice any slippage of clutch when riding.

My bad guys, noob question. I assumed you had to have the clutch it to shift through the gears when the engine was off. I remembered on my old bug that the gears grinded when I shifted through the gears with the engine off and the clutch was not it. My apologies.

no need to apologize, asking about things you don't know is what this place is for. but as with all places on the internet you get some silly answers sometimes when people feel it was a silly question.

but all kidding aside, them clutch mites they nasty buggers.

you don't need the clutch in to shift with motor off.

bike on stands, roll wheel back and forth a tad,and you get shift -up /down.

on ground same thing, roll back and forth a bit to get next gear engaged.

easy peasy.
