We would like to offer our sincere thanks to everyone for supporting the KONICA MINOLTA Honda team over the 2006 season.

The KONICA MINOLTA Honda team will be continuing its pursuit of the MotoGP World Championship in 2007, its third season, under a new organization with Shinya Nakano as the team’s rider.

We look forward to your continued encouragement.

Comments from Shinya Nakano

I have been at Kawasaki for three years. I’m satisfied with what I did with their team, but I felt the need to find new motivation somewhere else.

The offer made by the KONICA MINOLTA Honda Team arrived at just the right moment. I have to say that it was a difficult decision to make, but I’m excited about working with Honda, the number one bike manufacturer.

It will be a pleasure to work with JiR, the new team. I will work hard to get on the podium as many times as possible and plan the season with the target being to fight for the title. Up until now, I have not tested the 800cc bikes, but I expect good handling characteristics and a higher cornering speed. I think that these characteristics will fit in well with my riding style.

I can’t wait to start riding with the new team staff. If we can combine the staff members’ huge amount of experience with my knowledge, obtained throughout my eight-year career in MotoGP, I think we can get good results.

I’m happy to have a Japanese sponsor like Konica Minolta supporting me. It was my long-held dream and thanks to them it came true.

I like this remark the best...

"I have to say that it was a difficult decision to make, but I’m excited about working with Honda, the number one bike manufacturer."

Damn Strait!

I'm kinda afraid it might be too late for Nakano...he certainly has the skills but he's starting to get a bit older. Just wish he'd been on any OTHER team than Kawi the past years.

Oh well, let me know when he wins 7 years in a row and will talk apples to apples. =]

At anyrate, I hope Nakano does well!

Yeah 5 if you don't want to count his 250cc win and 125cc win but what would I know.

LOL! I not even sure why you would reply to that since Hayden has what, 1... I mean even if it was 3 to 1 would it really matter but oh course this thread is not about that now is it?

Geez man if you're gonna be a delerious Rossi fan you should at least know when he won. Rossi didn't win the title in 2001, Kenny Roberts Jr. did. He also didn't win the 250cc title in 1999 and didn't win the 125 title in 97.

You should be ashamed to call yourself a Rossi fan! Go to your room and don't come out until you've read What if I Had Never Tried It ten times.

The point is this, he has 7 world wins...

5 MotoGP titles, 1 250cc and 1 125cc

Cripes... This thread is even about Rossi. I mean all you need to know is he is the best. I don't care if Hayden won this year or not, it don't mean $hit to me as far as who is the better overal rider in the end.

End of story.

No the point is that you were incorrect in saying he had 7 consecutive world titles. That is all.
My bad, thanks for correcting me but that was more or less a typo on my behave but you do stand correct and I stand corrected.

So any who, I hope Konica Minotla's new team can pull up and beyond last years 12th place overall.

Thanks.

Who cares about Rossi? This post has nothing to do with him. I was hoping someone would comment on my post, actually. I am so self centered.

Well...

To be honest I wonder how good Nakano is as well. He got on the podium this year but who knows if he can adapt to Michelins. The switch from Michelin to Bridgestone was disastrous for Tamada (who won 2 races in 2004) so hopefully the same fate won't befall Nakano.

I don't think visitor q really knows anything about Rossi nor MotoGP, besides the fact that he contends in that class with the #46 aboard a Yamaha.

That's probably about it.
Oh, I thought Rossi was a Nascar driver...
