Well I woke up this morning and looked out my window to see my RR lying on its side out in the parking lot. To make a long story short, I made a police report and the damage doesn't look TOO bad. The tail is scuffed, the rear brake lever is bent, right rearset broken off, engine case cover is scuffed, right clip-on is broken off, right turn signal is broken off, right mirror is scuffed...

I have full coverage, so I plan on turning this into my insurance company. Where should I take it to get the damage appraised? Dealership? Also, whats the process from that point on? If they turn the $$$ amount into State Farm I'd like to just take the check and fix the damage myself. Any advice would be appreciated. I

sorry to hear dude.. but ask urself is it really worth going to insurance for it? because when i did it, i had to pay my deductible and my premium went up.. so it would have been better off paying it out of my own pocket. call ur insurance to see if ur premium will go up and how much deductible will be. also ask them when the appraiser is available, i denno if dealerships charge you or not for apraising a bike.

Damn that sucks man! Wtf is wrong with people, have some respect for other's property! Some drunk bastard kicked over my friends F3 last year, you could see the dent on the tank where he kicked it and a shoe scuff mark. Hope it didn't do too much damage to ur bike.

dude dont file an insurace claim on that!!!! its not even worth the trouble it will cause you in the future. dont even call the ins company, they will hold it against you forever. just take the hit and replace everything yourself. sorry to hear that tho

Sucks man sorry to hear about it. They may send an adjuster out to look at it themselves; call your agent and talk to them about it, don't call the 800 number first. BTW how much is your Comprehensive deductible, if it's 500 of over don't even file a claim.

If you don't get in contact with them by tuesday PM me.

I went bikeless for a few years because of apartment living. I'm the paranoid type and always figured the same thing would happen to me.

Trust Me! It's not worth turning into your insurance company. It may seem like a lot upfront but you dont have to pay your deductable, your premium stays the same and your not getting fucked by the man again. I personally would say avoid turning this into the insurance company, but if you do decide to your next couple of steps would be to have someone come out and calculate the damage. Generally your insurance company should provide someone to come out and do that. I had to do it once but my bike was complete thrashed. Some idiot in a parking lot ran it over with his big fuckin pickup!

are you sure it was pushed over? Theres stories on here of people who have had full covers on their bike and was pushed over when it was windy outside. Not saying thats what happened just saying...could be a possibility.

The same thing happened to me and I called my insurance company. I'm glad I did, because there was considerable damage. I think the total of my damage came out to $1700 dollars. I ended up paying $250 for the deductible. Actually, the shop I went to really hooked me up. I saved a lot of money. As far as premiums going up, it theoretically shouldn't happen because that's why you HAVE insurance and pay the premium -- to protect yourself when these things happen. I haven't gotten my renewal statement yet, but so far, I haven't seen a hike in my premiums.

What kind of damage happened to your bike?

A Comprehensive claim should not effect your premium. Everyone who says it has, should get a new agent and/or coverage.

Thats what I was thinking, I just got cut a check 3 days ago for hail damage to my Grand Cherokee, and my premium will remain unaffected.

Your bike was not moving at the time your rates should not go up. It wont go down as an accident it will go down under comp. I had a car get hit once while it was parked on the side of the road and my ins did not change at all b/c it was a non moving accident.

Accident claims are only done in the case of going off the road, hitting another car or somehing else, hitting a deer or something like that.

This just happened to me. First off the police will treat it like vandalism or something like that. My bike was a 2000 f4 with some mild damage from before I bought it, you really couldn't see it unless I pointed it out. I took it to my favorite shop and they did an estimate on it. I then called insurance and they sent out an adjustor. When he looked at it he took everything into account! Totalled out the bike, gave me a check for $4,890.00 or the option to keep the bike and give me a check for $1,900.00. I took the 48 and bought my brand new 06 rr! When I went to insure the bike they wanted more than 3.5 X what I was paying!!! WTF? Dropped em like a hot potato and got the same coverage for less somewhere else.

Correct, this should never hike your rate - it could cause your insurance company to drop you though if you make another claim.

For all the people telling him not to claim it, let him see what the repairs total up to be and decide... It's not going to raise his premium.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune

Are you sure someone pushed it over? I know around Philly it gets pretty windy sometimes and if you are parked just a little funny your $hit will go down. Oh well, fug em if they did push it over...people are damn jealous!!! Now is the time to start looking into custom paint or other body work too. Especially if youre going to turn it into the insurance company. My bro is a State Farm insurance agent...I'll ask him more about it.
