Check out SouthEast trackdays from regular organizers:

www.NESBA.com
www.sportbiketracktime.com
www.teampromotion.com
www.jenningsgp.com (host their own as well as rent to others)

This season I am trying to get at least one day at the following tracks:
JenningsGP (www.jenningsgp.com)
Talledega GP (www.tallygp.com)
Barber Motorsports Park (www.barbermotorsports.com)
Road Atlanta (www.roadatlanta.com)
Carolina Motorsports Park (?)
VIR (www.virclub.com)

Anyone else hitting these tracks this year?
Opinions on organizers?

I'd love to go to road ATL to run. But I've never been to the track before....wouldn't have a clue about where to start getting ready and what I'd need.
Generally the only bike prep required is to drain coolant and replace with water (add water wetter optional), and tape over all lights/signals.

I gravitate towards those groups with less prep required because they tend to be more down-to-earth to work with. These groups are easier on track newbies and may even have some instruction available.

Groups with more prep (safety wiring for even the Beginner group, etc.) are usually
1) paranoid obsessive-compulsive or
2) full of racers and wannabe racers I don't want to be near.
Check out the requirements of each organizer.

General gear requirements include 1 or 2 piece riding suit. Some groups insist on leathers, others allow textile suits (i.e. Aerostich, Joe Rocket, etc). Generally you are OK as long as it has armor and zips together all the way around the waist.

Bring lots of water and snacks (fruit, powerbars, etc) even in winter since developing your riding skills is WORK!

Come down and hang out with us at Jennings one weekend...lots of GA riders there most of the time and very relaxed atmosphere to see what it's all about. I was nervous as hell first time i went to the track but the folks at Jennings are very friendly and helpful.....let me know if you want and you can hang out with us in our pit.
TPMs rules are minimal, lights taped, no race number on bike necessary, safety wire/coolant in top group only (though it is encouraged for people who come regularly in the lower groups). Having FUN is encouraged! Safety is mandatory :lol2: We do a pretty thorough bike inspection. 1 or 2 pc leathers are ok, textiles are allowed only in the lowest group (Kevlar suits such as DIFI are allowed in all groups)
