I was doing some research on correcting a speedometer that is inaccurate.
I used the search tool and found threads for speedo healer etc.
I just thought of a dumb question (or maybe not so dumb)
Why is the speedometer not being accurate not a warranty issue?
I've been a service writer for a Honda Auto Dealer ship for over 8 years.
If a vehicle came in and the customer had a complaint like the one I just listed, I would get it
written up and sent to a tech.
Once the symptom is verified, repair process would begin.
Diagnostic and repair would all be covered and paid for by Honda.
Has anybody tried bringing their bike into the dealership to have the speedo corrected under warranty?

mostly because it is caused by us modding the bike, -1/+2 and the speedo being off is not hondas problem.

I agree, once modified the problem is not Honda's.
I should have been more clear.
My sprockets are stock and I don't plan on changing them.
My speedo is off by at least 5 to 6 mph.
I don't think I'm the only one.

How are you measuring the accuracy of your speedo? It's pretty known that all motorcycles speedos are not 100% accurate.

At what speed was the error taken?

The error increases with speed ie. speed will read 280+kph but acctual is 260kph plus/minus.

my 335 was +8% on the speedo till I fixed it, its to keep people from speeding.

Aka, you think your speeding, but your actually doing the limit, sneaky, but it works.

My Jeep is 100% accurate though, as is the truck, but the sports cars and foreign rides are all tuned up.

Sportbikes too prolly, but I bet a harley has an accurate guage.

i think they do it on cars and trucks to make people think they are getting better fuel mileage than they really are.
there is no way its a warranty issue.

Technically I have not "measured" it yet.
The reason I believe is off is there is a street very close to my house that posts a 40 mph speed limit.
Because of law enforcement presence, people stick pretty close to the speed limit.
When I drive my cage which is an '06 Honda Ridgeline equipped with factory Navigation, When I set the cruise control on 40 mph I'm going the flow of traffic.
By the way, speedometer which is electronic is calibrated by the Navi system.
That's part of how Navi calculates ETA's for tip times.
Kind of like how your computer or phone clock is set.
I have to ride my bike around 48 mph on the speedo to keep up with the flow of traffic.

I don't beilieve that to be true at all.
Don't know if you this this but American Honda lost a class action lawsuit because it was determined that certain models odometers were over stating mileage ('02 to '06 Honda cars and trucks and some '07 models). This resulted in Honda extending the mileage portion of the warranty and additional 1,800 miles every 36,00 miles.
The Honda service bulletin/warranty extension number is 06-085 if you want to look it up.
Your statement "there is no way its a warranty issue." sounds like a challenge.
I'll update you on the details on how I got my speedo issue repaired under warranty.
By the way, don't mean to come off like a wise ass or know it all.
I'm just hoping to this thing fixed without spending any money. :icon_lol:

all bikes are off, take your bike to the dealer if u want.
they will have it for a week, ride it around, talk to American Honda, then say its normal....

A) more speeding = more crashes= more insurance=people saying the car isnt safe. My father used to run an insurance company, and I've seen that progression of papers on his desk too many times.

B)What are you talking about? I was talking about my own bloody garage.
