I need some advice in the steering damper category. As some of you know, the 1000RR's come with a factory HESD so I never had to worry about installing one on my own. However, when I get the 600RR I know I'm going to have to get one. Which ones do you guys like the best based on different factors like functionality, price, ease of installation, etc?

I think most of us here prefer the clean tidy look of the top mount radial dampers vs. the rod style. Or atleast i do.

Agreed...the look is good, but the cost is high and the quality of damping is limited by the design.

On a street bike, I'd go with the bling of a Pit-Bull, Scotts, etc. radial mount, but on a race/track bike...I'd stick with the tried and true...

How is that? Are you saying that the radial design doesn't do as good of a job at damping? (Sry if this was already covered somewhere else...)

Yeah Harp, how do you figure its limited, its all in the pivot and arm, therefore torque, if they increase the torque resistance to compensate for the shorter leverage, how can it be limited, its all physics baby...

A piston style damper has better feel and more responsive to headshake. The general racer consensus prefers and uses piston style over rotary. There was a really good article about this, I'm searching but dont seem to locate it now.
