I hate all the aftermarket pipes I've see for 600rr undertails. It looks like someone took a midpipe and shoved it up the RR's A** which they did. . . .

Micron seems to make a decent one that looks like it fits with the bike but its not worth dumping 1k$ just for the sound of it, im not interested in the 2-6 hp gain only a deeper sound over stock.

So has anyone had luck messing with their baffles and any negative performance as a result?

Oops. . .actually did another search and turned up this informative thread http://600rr.us/stock_exhaust_mod.html

They drilled holes right through the bottom of the can and apparently "*NOTE*- The 1hp gain is negligible and probably due to the engine being broken in more at the second dyno run. I posted these to show there is no performance loss. "

Yeah, one thing that's keeping me from getting aftermarket can is the way it doesn't have the right fit / finish as the stock. I wonder if anyone commercially does stock exhaust modification service? Not just punch hole, but alter the internal by opening it up and messing around with it. I know when I had my Buell, there are a few ppl who does it on the side to make some $$. You sent them ur stock exhaust and they modify it and ship it back (or if they have one already made, they can sent that one right away, sorta like core exchange). That'd be cool...

You guys will all get used to the look of the aftermarket cans. Look at those AMA, WSB, etc race bikes. They don't necessarily look flush, but they are just very utilitarian. I used to hate most aftermarket exhausts, but now I have a new appreciation for that look (within reason).

well the look of some of the cans are nice, but i can't justify 500 bones to update the look/sound of my exhaust system. when i'm screeming through the gears, it's hard not to hear it.

If you're talking about the dual outlet Micron (the one that kinda looks like a stock 1000RR exhaust), it's only $400, not $1000. I have it and it sounds great.

I put holes in mine. sounds MUCH better and cost me a whole 0$ to do :) I laugh when I see people buy a 300$ pipe just to improve the sound and add like 2 hp.

I drilled mine first...sounded like a ricer to me.

So i bought a jardine race slip on for 240.00.

The biggest thing was the jardine was nearly 20lbs lighter than the stock one. That makes a big differnce in weight on my track bike.

+1 couldnt have put it better myself.

sound + weight is worth the value of aftermarket exhaust.

I initially hated the look of the aftermarket exhausts, but after seeing/hearing them in person they grew on me. I was a big fan of the Mircon dual tip muffler, but now I want something that stands out more and doesn't look so much like the stock can.

You WILL notice a difference in sound and weight/HP, which for me justifies the price. Also the fact that your bike doesn't look like the other 30+ RRs at the local bike meet is always a plus.
