Anybody on this board planning a track day at Summit Point in WV in that span? I'm getting a small group of friends together and would be cool to meet some board members.

I could be up for it, but I don't see any days on their schedule in the time frame your talking? I wanted to head down there this weekend for 2 days of Shenandoah with Motorcycle Xcitement and N2/Evolve GT, but I couldn't convince anyone to take the trip with me.

Just at a glance, Motorcycle Xcitement lists Aug 13 as Summit Point and Sep 18th and 24th for Shenandoah. Maybe I should have titled the thread a bit more correctly.

Though the 13th is a bit shaky for me.

Yeah, Motorcycle Xcitement is down there next weekend on Fri/Sat, the 12th/13th, and having some kind of festival on Saturday. I prefer Shenny (and Motorcycle Xcitement's configuration of it over N2's), but both of those days are on Summit. Not that I wouldn't ride Summit, any track day is a good day, right?

Coming from Annapolis, it's a bit of a hike for you, but late August (27/28) N2 is at Pitt Race. Awesome track if you've never ridden it. I'll be at that one for sure, it's less than an hour from me.

I'm over in Laurel, College park (UMD) area... lets get a local meet going :)

Sorry I'm not "yet" geared enough for the track, maybe next year...

Looks like we're going to go for the Sep 18th track day at Shenandoah Circuit. Any takers?

I hate how all the orgs run fri/sat or sun/mon down there. NJMP does the same thing. N2 is up here at Pitt Race that weekend too though, so I can get 2 days in and a shorter drive. I'll probably end up going there.

Most of the track day orgs have rental gear available if you contact them or their trackside vendors if you wanted to try a day without all the investment.

Way past the expected window but if anybody is going, or interested to join, I signed up for the Shenandoah circuit on the 24th along with a buddy. Here's to hoping it doesn't storm!

I have some interest in the upcoming season. How was your day at the track?

I've been frequenting Summit Point since this thread. I love the Shenandoah Circuit and prefer that over Main but both are great. Motorcycle Xcitement is the organization I go with. They're not prohibitively expensive and minimum requirements to go out with the novice groups are fairly lax - just make sure your gear is solid (two piece zipped suit minimum, OTA boots, gauntlets, and a clean and modern helmet, sorry I forget the rating) and that the bike is mechanically sound. No safety wiring or coolant changes required but "appreciated".

Roger Lyle is the head guy and he's pretty easy to get in touch with if you have questions.

They have tons of coaches that will lead you around the track and show the right lines, follow you and make suggestions between track sessions and even do a few personal laps with you if you ask. They also do classroom sessions that you're free to take advantage of to pick the instructors' brains.

I can't recommend track days enough. I've learned more in a single day than a year on the street and haven't stopped picking up new skills every time I go out.

Lyoha thanks for the response, very encouraging information.
I am working a couple of other guys over to put together a couple of 600RRs for this. Any way I will plan to at least get over to Summit Point soon.

Other tracks "near" me are NC Bike and VIR.

Good deal. Hope to see you there! Look for an e92 towing a cbr. I'm setting up my bike for full time track use this off season so I don't know what paint scheme I'm going to go with yet on the track fairings

What's the schedule looking like this season? I'm really close to purchasing a dedicated track motorcycle, or maybe I could just try one of my street bikes.

It's a bit of a haul. I stick to Summit Point because of proximity but I do want to check out the others this season as well. N2 seems to have pretty good coverage.
