I'm on a huge budget and I'm looking at the Suomy Ventura and the KBC Vr-1/2. I now have an AFX ($50). I've decided if I won't see big differene from my helmet now until i hit the $400 range I'm not upgrading. I want to know if the Vetura being only $200 has the comfort of the more expensive Suomys, Arais, Shoeis, etc. Or the does the vr-1?? I'm looking for comfort, lightweight, and something that won't jerk my head at higher speeds. Thanks for the help.

Edit: I just saw a Shoei TZ-1 helmet for like $240. That be worth it if those other ones arn't???, or a lot better than the other two I mentioned??? 240 is pushing it....

ditch the KBC's, alot of customers complain that even their higher end helmet, the VR2, has alot of wind whistle and it's really annoying, through the helmet. The RF-1000, Shoei's mid-line helmet, is really well priced for its benefits, thats what I ride. The Arai's are made to fit specific head shapes so if your leaning towards one of them or the Shoei's dont fit you well you should try all of the Arai models on. Suomy has a very advanced interior and ventilation system, I have no riding experience in one, but from what I've heard, there are no complaints.

But if your on a budget and looking for a great helmet, my pick is the RF-1000

I wore a VR-1 for a full season. It is a fairly light helmet, and the comfort level is suprisingly good. I had no complaints until I tried on an Arai, and figured out that the KBC was the wrong shape for my head. The VR-1 is more of an intermediate oval, and the VR-2 is more of a round shape. As I have a long oval, the VR-1 started to get a little too loose when it broke in. If it fits your head, the KBC is a good choice(IMO) for a budget helmet.

If you are a long oval (Arai Profile/Signet) like me, you might look at the Shark RSi. That is what I went with for my latest helmet, and I love it. It is extremly light, very comfortable fabric, and is in the upper end of your price range from our site vendor MRI.

Don't know about the Suomy Ventura...I got a spec1r..Good helmet...A little on the noisy side though compared to an arai...Shield system needs a tool and you have to get used to changing them..I'd buy another one though..In your budget..You're kinda right on the brink..I'd say spend a little more and get a really good helmet like a solid color arai astral, quantum etc..or just get a scorpion exo400 or 700..I haven't crashed in the later but we sell alot of them and they have alot of the features of higher end helmets and are fairly light for the price...

Scorpion helmets are the best bang for the buck. Im on my 3rd one and my first one I went down in... No injury to the head... no cracking of the helmet or anything. Nothing on the helmet broke excpet for the shield which is acceptable.

BEST PART: there are two different versions, the exo 400 and exo 700... The exo 700 is only $200!!! They are as comfortable as Shoei or Arai's... A lot of my friends ride with them also and everyone loves them... not to mention you get a damned good helmet for under $200!

The spec1r does...But its much more than your looking to spend..Having owned both I would get an arai..And I am going to get an arai for my next helmet ;) As far as comfort, ventilation, quietness the arai beats it in every one..Suomy's a good helmet, but its not a arai...The inside is soo soft it makes me want to wear it when I go to sleep ;)

Yep, I actually just recently purchased a Shark RSI helmet and love it. The quality is top notch, and it looks great. I really like their visor system....think its the best ive seen so far.

Complete bull. I really dont get where Scorpion is getting this reputation. Ive checked them out and they are heavy, have a big shell and quality is not what people say (certainly not anywhere near Arai, AGV or Suomy.)

So it's between the Arai Astral($272 shiped), The Suomy Ventura(possibly $150 shipped(ebay) or $215 shipped normal), or AGV Stealth($242 shipped). Tell me what you guys think.

Lower the price the better

KBC VR-2 is an awesome helmet. Mine is quiet has no toruble with wind noise or whistling. Most places have a 30 day return policy on the helmets. It should be returned and exchanged for a new one if there is wind noise/whistling.
