I pulled the cover and put in a Yoyodyne slipper clutch. I put the cover back and topped it off with oil and it won't start. It started fine just before working on it. I pulled the cover again to make sure the Crank Position sensor was installed correctly, (not a whole lot of ways to put it in wrong), and made sure the wires from the CPS are not torn up from moving it around having the cover off.

What else could I have screwed up while I was in there?:ponder:

It cranks but no starting correct? if so then..

Did you check the safety switches, easy stuff first. (killswitch on handlebar, Clutch switch, kickstand switch, Neutral switch)
Yes, kill switch is on, (and fuel pump primes properly), sidestand is up and bike is in Neutral. This one has me stumped as it started up and ran when pulling it up on the bike stand prior to swapping the clutch. I am thinking it has to be something I did while I was in there:banghead:

I would check spark first and then go from there.


Manual says you should get a reading of 0.7 V minimum from the CKP.

CKP sensor Peak voltage is lower than standard 1. The multimeter impedance is too low; below 10 MnJ
value. DCV.
2. Cranking speed is too low (battery under cha rged).
3. The sampling timing of the tester and measured pulse
were not synchronized (system is normal if measured
voltage is over the standard voltage at least once).
4. Faulty CKP sensor (in case when above No. 1 - 3 are
normal)
No peak voltage. 1. Faulty peak voltage adaptor
2. Faulty CKP sensor
3. Faulty CMP sensor

Using a multimeter you can read it by setting it to (impedance 10 MQ/DCV minimum).

Take out the ECM connector.
Looking straight at the connector (clip on the top) plug your positive from the multimeter into the 1st collumn, 2nd row.
the wire going into the back of the connector should be yellow
Ground the black wire of the multimeter.
Crank and get your reading.
