Looks great! Just wonder how well it will hold up to the elemets and to belt buckels and jacket zippers.

Yeah its put on exactly like window tint but its a lot thicker. I won't be riding for a few days but I'll definitely update my results. Can't be any worse than my Pro Grip. I had the clear so you could really tell where the glue wasn't adhereing as well. Sand started to get under there and the Clear material was looking yellowish. I like this look b/c it looks original. PLus it won't damage your paint job with sticky glue. Better yet is the fact that this protects the sides where your leathers rub up against.

I just put on the pro grip protector not too long back. I got the carbon fiber one though. After it starts to show its wear, I think I'll go to this stuff. Looks good!

The sand and dirt getting under your old pro grip didn't cause any permanent damage did it?

 f'in a... mine looks like sheaaaaaatt!! How in the flyin' bamboozled **** did you get that f'in thing to come out so smooth! I'm sorry, but I'm pissed! I worked on mine for an hour and it came out looking awful. How did you get the narrow portion on the centerpiece to even out around the edges? Mine is coming up at the edges and bubbling... piece of sheatttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!

Did one on a friends 600rr, didnt bother with the sides, just used the center. It dosent fit well. You work for hours and redo it over and over just to get it smooth on 90% of at and then the 10% thats left is impossible. I even cut it down to make it work. Then it stayed on for about a month.
I had one on my 929 but riding it at the track will make it start to come off.
I guess if the tank area is reasonably flat and you don't touch it much they are fine but thats not why you would put it on....right?

The sides was the easiest to install in my opinion. Took a total of 5 minutes to get it perfect. I used Honda's Spray Cleaner and Polish to remove the goo from the Pro Grip. Worked Beautifully. The middle, however, took about 10 min. b/c of the angles. You have to position it good and be patient. As you push out the water underneath it will start to tack on better. For stubborn parts I used my heat gun.(Didn't have to use it at all on the sides). I used 25% alcohol and 75% water mixture in a spray bottle. The kit fits perfectly but if you so desire It can be cut you know. I just peeled it off the paper and stuck it on. If it holds its looks, I will be more than extremely happy with this product.

I have had the Tankslapper on my RR for about 3 months now, and it has held up very well to crotch-grinding abuse on street and track. Parts of it are starting to dull from wear, but better the Tankslapper than the factory tank cover, right?

Oh...yes,the center section is a bit tedious to get right, but come on, it's not brain surgery. If you are careful, you can get the side sections to just barely touch the center section so that there is no unprotected seam between them.

I had a set on my SV650 for about a year before one section finally came off. At about $15 a set, this is a great investment. Great protection that does not leave gunky residue or compromise your bike's appearance. At that price, buy a few extra sets and you will likely be covered for a few years.

O.k., after seeing those pics, I decided to roll my bike inside, put it on the stand and start over. I got a credit card out, added some alcohol to my stomach, rather than the squirt bottle, and got to work.

Needless to say, the credit card made the difference. Also, I didn't have problems with the side pieces origianally, just the centerpiece. As it turns out, I had it way to low, which put to many kinks in the edges of the material. I moved the upper edge to within about 5/8" before the gas cap and it now fits perfectly - can't be seen.

I'm much happier now....

I have had the Tankslapper now for several months and it is a great product. Once on the bike (yellow) it is hardly noticeable and invisible from a few yards away.

It takes some patience to install and has been criticized because of this fact, but if you persist…it’s well worth the effort.

You must have a spray bottle of water and a squeegee to get it right. Use lots of water and keep working from the center out, lifting and re-applying several times till all the creases and bubbles are gone. This may seem obvious……..but once you get into the application, you will be asking yourself “just-how-in-the-hell” am I going to get this stuff to lay flat around these contours, especially towards the rear of the tank? But be patient and keep lifting, squirting, and re-applying. I installed the center piece first, and then had to take it off and redo it as the side would not line up. No big deal….. patience!!

Once installed, any scuff marks from your leathers can be wiped off with a little water or a dab of wax.

Glad it worked this time. I went for a ride yesterday and still no noticeable defects at all. There are 2 very minor water bubbles that should dry out soon. Keep in mind its just like a window tint. My concern is if it will crumple up over time and body weight. I don't believe it will, but we'll see.
