2005 600RR Track (A Group)
4500 miles (tracked since 1500 miles)
Jardine header, Akra slip on
PCIIIusb w/ full Jardine map
K&N (clean and not OVER oiled)
Block off's
93 octane with booster
Newer factory spark plugs (2 trackdays)

I noticed during the last few trackdays it has been feeling weak.....sluggish about 9000rpm and above. On the back stretch at Mid Ohio, I can only get in 6th gear just before the braking zone. (never an issue before)
It just doesn't pull like it used to.
And........Coming onto the front stretch it really bogs down when I whack on it....almost cutting out.
It has always ran extremely strong without issues. Doesn't smoke, use oil, or miss. I am lost on this one.
Any suggestions welcome.

sounds like a possible pc problem. OR possibly a fuel delivery system.

Had the exact issue except mine was occurring anytime I went above 4k. Very jerky. Took the pc off to test my theory. Worked perfectly.

With that being said... time for a new map... Or pc needs to be replaced.

I would tell you to take the pc off and ride around the neighborhood to check. But since yours is occurring at 9k vs my 4k rpm that might be hard to reach in such a small space.

It's not cutting out so to speak.....just seems underpowered.
I am planning on unhooking the PC from the battery and then reloading the map into it.
It used to pull like a truck right up to redline in every gear.

mind did the same... worked great then one day I just started having problems. So I did that to pinpoint my issue. For me it was the pc. We had similar symptoms.

Did you replace it or reset/reload it?
I wonder if Dynojet/Power Commander can test ius if I send it back.

I took mine off. Never reinstalled it as I took my full system off. Im not sure if a reset would work on it. Im curious as mine is just sitting in the box. I just threw my stock system back on and kept it moving.

I was told that a system could in fact be tested if you sent it back to dyno jet. I just havent bothered. Try a reset and let me know.

I'll contact them and see what they say about a test.
I bought it in 2007 so the warranty is done.......

I asked Dynojet about testing my PC. This is the reply I received. It's a track only bike (not street legal) so I'm not sure how to test it unless I do it at the track.

There are a few in-field tests that can be checked by bringing a computer to the bike, and connecting to the Power Commander.

The first thing we can check is whether or not the RPM and throttle position of the vehicle read accurately in the Power Commander software.

You can also click Get Map to see what map is currently loaded in the unit.

You can check the current firmware version by going to View->Power Commander Information. The latest version is 2.3.2.

You can load a zero map into the Power Commander and see if the problem goes away. This should make no fuel change to the bike and make the bike run as if the Power Commander is not there. If doing this causes your problem to go away, then it is safe to assume the problem was being caused by the map that was loaded.

The next thing to do is unplug the Power Commander from the bike completely, and reconnect all of the stock connectors. If this causes the problem to go away, then you can safely assume the problem is being caused by the Power Commander.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

After the headers, pipe and PC3, was it ever professionally tuned? And if so, was it tuned for the octane rating you're putting into it?

Not professionally tuned. I run pump gas in all my bikes. It's always ran fine with that setup.....for several thousand track miles.

I just wonder. Spec for 03-06 RRs is actually 87; running higher octane in engines not tuned for it can have some detrimental effects over time: "If you run too high of an octane, you will cause excessive carbon build up, cooler engine temps (not always a good thing), lack of power and possible bad hydrocarbon emissions. The higher the octane rating, the slower the flame front moves in the combustion chamber, thus allowing the engine to cycle into the exhaust stroke before a complete burn of the fuel can happen." This is contentious, but there seems to be a lot of agreement that one should use the least octane of fuel possible without causing knock.
