Two Brothers Exhaust Install Question

2085 Views 10 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  asoland88
I know -- another exhaust post. But I'm short on time and not sure what to do.

When installing my two brothers exhaust this weekend (in the process) I'm wondering what's more common - trimming the stock heat shield or putting heat tape in behind the mid pipe. It's a carbon fiber slip on but I'm obviously want protection behind the mid pipe.

Suggestions? Opinions? I'm running short on time so I couldn't search all that much for a close up pic of others....

Just from what I have read IMO from about ten different posts you don't need either but when I do my exhaust I'm gonna elim heat shield and use the heat tape for peace of mind.
I was debating about the same thing and I Tried it with nothing and it has been like that for a couple weeks and it's been fine. The rear heat shield can be removed for sure with the carbon fiber and it's amazing how cool it stays. The mid pipe is only slightly hotter but if you are concerned some hear tape should be fine
Thanks for the input guys. I'm waiting on seeing if I can get a hold of some heat tape (holiday and all). I decided against the shield completely. Appreciate the input! I'll post pics later.
Here's a picture of it done. got some reflective tape behind it. Cleaned up really nice.

Looks god bro nice work how's it sound?
The sound is good. It hasn't quite broken into the real deep throaty sound that the TBRs usually have yet. Sounds like my old yoshi but after puberty. Haha

I really liked my Yosh. Just preferred the look of the two brothers on the 09s I guess.

Has it broken in any more to where its that nice sexy deep sound!
Yeah it has now. Thus far I'm happy with the result. I'm getting a bit more vibration on the right side than I expected though. Notice it in the foot peg and the handle after longer rides. Not sure if I'm just not used to it or what.
